Hi everyone. An unfortunate event this morning has put me in need of a replacement right side (looking from the rear of the bike) saddlebag. One of the two top mounting arms have broken off of my bag.

Any color, any working condition would be just fine by me. I basically just need the inner half of the bag that actually attaches to the bike. I'm located in Denver but am happy to have a bag shipped.

If it helps at all, I've got some OEM and aftermarket parts (taller windscreen, oem seats, etc) that I could throw in to sweeten the deal.

Thanks in advance!

I have a spare '05 bag (locks missing, paint chipped) that I have kept around just to have a set of the latching mechanisms handy. But it may be the left bag. Let me check at lunch time. If it is the right bag, I'd send you the "inner half" (allowing me to keep the latching mechanisms) for cost of shipping plus $25 for my hassle and time.

that would be awesome! thanks and fingers crossed.

(excellent avatar btw. both my fav authors have an "s" for a middle name - hunter and william)

So sorry to disappoint...

First I was hopeful when I looked at the bag and it was the right-hand one. But here's the story: The previous owner of the '05 I bought in April told me he had an encounter with a deer, so the bag had been replaced. He still had the original bag and offered it so I took it, thinking I might want the latching hardware at some point. I immediately saw all the scuffing on the painted half so assumed that was what led to replacement. When I looked today, I saw more serious damage. While both of the bag "hooks" are there, the forward one apparently took the brunt of the deer hit, so the shell is cracked heavily around the front mount, then cracked at least six more inches forward into the shell. I suppose someone really handy might have the know-how to repair it but in my opinion you are way better off looking elsewhere. What I have is junk - except for the latching mechanisms.

Yes, H.S.T. ... When I was 17 in 1972 I rode Greyhound from Montana to San Bernardino, CA - 44 hours. Somewhere I grabbed a book called "Hells Angels" and read it on the way. Well, that was Thompson's first book and is very, very well done, well written - 1969?. Everyone knows him for "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" which is excellent for what it is, but he was also a (half) serious journalist. My favorite - and I think his very best work - is "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72." Wow! Talk about writing and incisive analysis! Just too damned bad the toll 40+ years of alcohol and drugs took on the man, his mind, and his talent. What he was writing toward the end ("Hey Rube") was drivel and he'd admit it. I like Johnny Depp's portrayal of Thompson far more than Bill Murray's. The Thompson portrayed by Depp had that dark, dangerous and sinister side that was true to Thompson. In truth, he was not a nice person.

If I ever get a tattoo, it will probably be the clenched fist and peyote button.

Selah.

no problem at all, i appreciate you checking. hst is easily in my top three. i agree that his own lifestyle took a toll on his craft.

so, anyone have an inner shell lying around? :D

I have at least one, and maybe two right hand bags, one from an '05 and one from an '07. The inner halves are in good shape and the outer halves are scuffed.

PM or [email protected] .

Best regards,

John Ryan
