It's not real clear what those "specials" actually cost?
Only
128Kbs MP3 files?
You want MP3 downloads???
Easynews $14.95 per month for
30 GIGABYTES of downloads per month. That's a LOT of mp3s!
How's that work?Where is the MP3 file selection?
Easynews is a Usenet provider. See
HERE if you don't know what Usenet is.
Easynews hosts tens of thousands of different "News Groups". Each group "specializes" in different subjects or topics. For example, there are newsgroups for ****, newsgroups for education, newsgroups for sports, newsgroups for TV shows, newsgroups for movies, and for this topic, newsgroups for music.
As an example, there is a newsgroup call "alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.complete_cd" which specializes in archiving, as the name implies, complete CDs. Right now there are over 600,000 complete CDs in that one group. And there are 298 MP3 groups hosted by Easynews, with each group specializing in a particular genre of music. A group for rock, a group for country, reggae, audiobooks, 50's music, 60's music, etc. I have never searched for a song I couldn't find.
Easynews has a web interface where you can search their archives for a given artist, group, song or album title. If that particular song or album is currently archived on Easynews' servers, you click and download.
Files that are placed on Easynews' servers are uploaded by subscribers. And retention on the servers is tyically 400 to 500 days, so if Usenet user uploaded "Layla" 400 days ago, you can download it today.
That's pretty much, in a nutshell, what Easynews is/does.
