I need a quick clarification, please.

Can a 2nd owner purchase the Y.E.S. warranty if it is within the 1 year date from purchase? Or is it the original owner only?

Thanks for your help!

Gordon,

The answer is Yes to Y.E.S. Here is the number to Yamaha 800-962-7926 if you want to verify and one of the best values can be had at: D&H Cycle, 18115 US Hwy 31, Cullman, AL 35058, 256-739-1840, 888-553-3311

Hope this helps...

While the information is correct, even if the purchase had to be made by the original owner, he could have simply paid you for the program and had you add the Y.E.S. before transferring title.

Yes..you are correct. That was part of our discussion. Just wanted to have all of the facts out there as I would like for this gentleman to be comfortable when making his decision.

I also had the same question as I'm selling my '08 leftover FJR. And as above the second owner can get the Y.E.S. as long as it's before the 1 year end of the warranty. D&H is the place to get your Yamaha Y.E.S.. D&H also sells the Kawi 3 year extended warranty for the GTR1400 for $389.

The only clarifier here is that the second owner must be on the Yamaha books as being the "official" owner of the bike. When I purchased YES through D&H, they came back to me with the fact Yamaha still had the previous owner on their books as being the owner of my VIN #. I had to go to a dealer, who can get into the system and change the ownership records within Yamaha database to show me as the official owner. Once that was done, D&H got me signed up with YES.

Otherwise, piece of cake.

One other point of clarification: To transfer an existing YES warranty requires that the new owner bring the bike to a Yamaha factory authorized repair center and have them "inspect" the bike before transfer. When I bought mine with a pre-existing YES warranty, I went by my dealer and asked them to transfer it, and they did it gratis. It was towards the end of the day on a Friday, and I don't think they wanted to be bothered with the "inspection". They just asked that I think of them when I bought any new accessories or parts.

The good news is that my YES expires next month and I've never had reason to use the coverage. Still, it sure was comforting to have had it.
