Ok guys wife is letting me get the 08 now its down to the YES waranty the dealer wants 400.00 for the 4 year warranty have you guys had good luck with the YES warranty.

And is there anything special i should know about it ????

Make sure it's a 4 year Y.E.S. on top of the 1 year basic warranty for a total of 5 years....and not a 3+1=4 thing.

YES is a warranty extension, not a service plan. I mention this because you used the term 'service' in the title.

You can save a few dollars (and taxes too) if you buy it from D&H.

Note that if you go with your dealer, clarify that you are getting a 4 year exctension, not a total term of 4 years.

First, (and not trying to high-jack the thread). Reference that phase, "... wife is letting me...". Obviously every situation is different, but am I the only one that cringes when I read those words? :blink:

It would be interesting to run a poll to see how many FJR owners benefitted from buying the YES warranty, as opposed to those that bought it and never used it. Or those that never bought it... and never needed it. I'm on my 2nd FJR now and never needed warranty service.

When it comes to extended warranties, it has been well documented they generally are not a wise consumer purchase. Think about it.... If they were, manufacturers wouldn't offer them.

I agree that as a rule consumer extended warranties aren't worth it but for my motorcyle I'm willing to pay $384 (or whatever D&H is charging) to hedge my bets. I probably won't get $384 in value but I can easily afford the money for the YES warranty whereas the thousands for a warranty fix that otherwise wouldn't be covered would hurt.

And furthermore, if you should ever fall out of love with your new black beauty at some time in the future, having a few years of fully transferable extended warranty on the bike being sold on the used market is a HUGE incentive for the buyer. Buying a used bike one always has to worry about what sort of hidden mechanical gremlins there might be. Getting a warranty for the first few years of ownership quells any such fears.

Well worth the $400 if only for how much it will increase the resale value.

I did ask the dealer it was 4 years YES waranty and 1 year factory waranty so a total of 5 years i think that is fair for 400 bucks its a good piece of mind .

For $11 over the cost at D&H that's not bad. Someone else posted that D&H will have to raise the cost, but I haven't seen a response yet.

It was a no-brainer decision for me. I got it. Now the bike is covered under a factory warranty for as long as I'm making payments... :blink:

Buy it at the cheapest place possible (prolly D&H) but shop around. <_<

Get the +4 for a total of 5... no reason to do anything else. :blink:

By the way, IF you ever need to have your Y.E.S. refunded due to an unexpected accident or sale of your bike and you want to keep the refund on the warranty, you MUST get the refund through the dealer you purchased the Y.E.S warranty through. Not a major issue, I just wanted to point that out. I got a little over $200 of the $485 I paid for my 05 warranty back just the other day. That AFTER using it to get the dreaded "tick" fixed.

It only takes one visit to the dealer after the year is up to pay for this warranty. I typically don't even consider any kind of warranty on a product, but I got the Y.E.S. first time around and I am shopping for it on the 08. I also bought GAP coverage on my last and on this bike. I guess if you have all the extra money lying around and want to chance it, go for it but I don't like surprises and I have had plenty of them lately. Just glad I had coverage to minimize the impact. :clapping:

You can purchase the 4 year extended warranty anytime before the one year warranty expires. No need to purchase with the new bike unless it is to be covered with the financing.
