Yamaha foot shields, what do they do?

Anyone install these?

For that price I could buy a really nice pair of boots and have

enough left over for a weekend getaway. JS

I had them on my '14 (got them free as part of a promotion).

They do keep your boots cleaner than without by blocking/diverting airflow. They also somewhat restrict access to the oil level window and the filter, though it's still possible to get to these.

In the end I took them off, I found no real advantage, though I think they helped a bit in very cold weather.

I have them and yes they are great in either very wet and or cold days.

I keep them on as I like the look and ignore that they can trap a little more heat in the summer.

Looks like it might be particularly susceptible to tip-over damage! (Not that there is ever much chance of that!)

Very much so, even with sliders fitted.
