I should soon be the proud owner of a '07 FJR! Plan is to pick it up in about a week. Going to be great weather this weekend so I guess I'll have a couple of farewell rides on the Venture.
Congratulations! Here's another piece of (unasked for) advice - take it easy on the throttle until you get used to the bike. I speak from the experience of saying to myself, "Hmmm...this is a nice bike. I wonder what will happen if I just whack the throttle wide open.....HOLY CRAP!!!! LET GO OF THE THROTTLE!!!! LET GO!!!!"

Seriously - the FJR is a great bike but it *will* try and kill you if you don't respect it. :)
I know your right on that . When I got my 2004 I took my wife out for a spin on it. Turning left at an intersection I told the wife to hang on as I'm going to see what it will do. After the turn at a speed of say 15 mph I pinned it. Didn't drop the clutch or nothin just gassed it at speed. Well the front came up quick and scared the crap out of both of us. Now I know it aint no Venture .....

I'll go easy on the throttle for awhile. The only way to get the front wheel off the ground on a Venture is with a jack. You can lighten it up pretty well if you wind it up and drop the clutch but I don't make a habit of it.

Congrats on the "07." I traded my beloved Valk in on my "07" FJR about 5 months ago. Man I love this bike! For what the Valk is, the bike handled very well and pulled pretty hard, but this bike is a different beast, as I'm sure it will be compared to the Venture. The FJR handles extremely well in the twisties and is very quick! I remember riding home from Atlanta the night I purchased it, about a 3 hr ride. My nephew rode up with me on his BKing. After stopping for a warm coffee, it was a cold Dec night, we entered the on ramp, I whacked it out of 2nd and 3rd...whoa! I remember thinking I'd better get a tighter grip the next time I do that...lol

I did add risers and I'm planning on getting another seat, just personal preference. Enjoy your new ride. IMO it's a great bike and I don't regret the trade.
