I also got my '05 at LA Yamaha. When I pointed out D&H's price on YES I was able to get it for $400, which was close enough for me to let 'em handle it. I think my ABS model was right at $14K out the door with YES. Not nearly as cheap as some folks got but the best I could find in the LA area.

Sounds about right. We've been saying for years that D&H's pricing nets them $50 for about 10 to 20 minutes worth of paperwork. Plenty of profit but you'd think you were asking some dealers if it was okay to eat their baby or something.

Bounce, could you pls post the full name/contact details fro D&H? I am based in FL and was offered the same $%^$%^ price ($800+) on YES when buying the FJR.

I am very interested in getting the YES for something like $400 or less.

Thx.

I just got my new 06A last week, and am interested in seeing what you paid for the 48 month Yamaha YES (if you bought it).
1. What price did you pay (48-month only)$389

2. Where did you buy it (dealer and location) D&H, Cullman AL

3. Can one buy it after the fact, say within x amount of time after taking delivery, and from a different dealer than one purchased the bike from? Bought bike in Sacramento CA, YES from D&H @ 11 months

4. A or AE? Er, uhm, that'd be my '05 A model
Give your dealer one chance to come close...The YES is from Yamaha, all dealers pay the same amount...the rest is markup and profit...or bloodletting (choose your own definition). D&H are great people to deal with, even on the phone.
Another thought....

I always buy from the dealer/store that originally sets the low price. Anyone else must BEAT the price of the low price "leader" to get my money. I think we need to "reward" those who go low first and break with the MSRP mentality. For me, the tie goes to the first one at the lower price, in this case, D&H.

Why can't a Florida resident buy the YES warranty from out of state?
... something to do with your elected officials defining an extended factory warranty as an "insurance policy" ... they made it where you have to buy same from only in-state companies.
1st off, I'm not an insurance expert (although I am a licensed insurance claims adjuster and Dallas Cowboy fan). I called the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation here, Office of the Commissioner: 850-413-3140 and spoke with a very informative person who outlined me the following information.

* Yamaha Corporation is not listed as licensed in the state of FL to sell their warranty, specifically. Yamaha probably is represented in layers of under-written companies. I would be sure Yamaha has their ducks in a row pertaining to insurance. As we were talking, he looked up other companies like GM, Ford, etc. and they were all listed but not specifically the Yamaha Corp.

* There is no law in the state of Florida stopping me from purchasing the YES warranty from any other state and bringing the product back into the state via the internet, phone call, etc. He compared this to an online purchase of an out-of-state life insurance policy. Say you bought this policy out-of-state on the internet and they were not licensed in the state of FL to sell insurance. Then, later on, they went belly-up and you wanted some kind of recourse action. You would not get help from the State of Florida. In this case, I buy the YES warranty from whoever I want, end up on Yamaha's system as having it and get my service done wherever I take it in. Unless Yamaha goes bankrupt, I'm in good shape.

* It would be against the law for a company outside of Florida to solicit my business unless they were licensed in this state to sell insurance/service warranty.

wpbfjr, I just saw your logo referencing my post on the YES warranty. WELL, I guess I should update what Yamaha ended up telling me, just didn't want to give up the fight w/ them.

Yamaha will not allow FL residents to go outside the state to purchase the YES warranty even though the citizens of FL have no law that says they can't. Makes no sense to me. I believe, Yamaha has instructed all out-of-state dealers to not sell the warranty to them. I argued w/ Yamaha until I was blue (wpbfjr says "Yamaha blue") in the face and they will not change their position. But what I said in that post is all true. It does suck for the FL residents for Yamaha's lame incorrect interpretation.

Dan (I feel somewhat better now)

:angry2: you guy,s are lucky you don't live in canada, $1400.00 for the 4 year extended.

Howdy,

1. What price did you pay (48-month only) - $399.00 (48 Months)

2. Where did you buy it (dealer and location) - North Texas Yamaha 2301 N. Stemmons Fwy Lewisville TX 75077 Phone: 972-420-4000 Fax: 972-355-5306 Toll Free Phone: 800-924-4989

3. Can one buy it after the fact, say within x amount of time after taking delivery, and from a different dealer than one purchased the bike from? I have a used 06 AE (1044 miles on it when I purchased it) and purchased my warranty today through a different dealer than where the bike was sold from (see above listed dealer).

4. A or AE? AE

Comment: North Texas Yamaha has been fantastic at customer service and pricing. Great folks there! If you are wanting the warranty talk to Johnny (great guy). Randy in service and Jim in sales are superb.

Ride Safe,

Rex

RLTW!!

If you get stuck on the Florida part of the extended warranty I have done a couple with Honda using an out of state address with no problem. My sister lives in Maine so I use her address to buy the warranty online without a blink of an eye. Florida is crazy, they thought that they would protect the ignorant consumer by making all insurance one price but never considered what happens when you remove competition from the market... they set it at the highest price!
