I have about 8700 miles on the feejer now and the stock stones are starting to look a little scary. I have a new set of Avons due to arrive today from FJRgoodies. (ordered 2 and a half weeks ago, that's 1500 miles for me) I didn't realize it would take so long for them to arrive. I will order earlier next time.

Anyhow, using the wondermous info from this forum, I disassembled today to get ready for the new shoes. Here's what I found:

Brakes: Look great, wearing nice and even, plenty of pad remaining

Disks: Nice, uniform wear, no gouges

Pumkin/Shaft check: Mine had grease! Nice and lubed (cleaned and refreshed with Mobil 1 syn grease)

So far, piece of cake. Total time into job so far - tad over an hour.

Smile on me, yamamama.

It is good to be king.

Yo, admins: this may belong in technical. Please boot me if so.

Well, good to hear that your bike is in good shape. My experience was about the same.

I hope the UPS gods are also smiling on you with a swift delivery.

Oh, crap! I forgot about the UPS gods! The last time I saw the UPS dude in the neighborhood, he was being TOWED into the gas station! That's got to be more humiliating than when I dropped my feejer at Lowes.

(now sitting, twidlin' thumbs, tappin' toe)

I'm over 26 thou on my 05 and will put the 3rd rear on the blue beast before WFO-5 in Reno this year (30 thou by then). You will have good experiences with this the next time, your shaft splines will still have lube on them, your brakes and rotors should still be in great shape, etc. If it isn't too late, don't forget to coat the teeth on the inside of the pumpkin before you replace it.

I may be a bit liberal with the use of the Honda moly paste, but I always seem to get a bit of grease slinging onto the rear wheel after a spline lube and tire change. Don't be alarmed if you see grease splattered on the rear wheel, it isn't causing an unsafe condition or any problems with traction.

'Preciate it, already done and the pumkin is back on.

You know, after working on my old GL1200, this bike is turning out to be fairly straight-up and simple to operate on. I am pleased so far.

BOOOYAH! I have tires! UPS had gasoline today! They're so pretty...

Shoes are on, and I have just returned from the first warm-and-scuff session.

Nice, very nice. I think I will like these Avons.

I ordered Avons from FJR Goddies last year. Took them to a shop close to me to have them put on. He had nothing good to say about Avons at all. I just smiles and said I'd be back in an hour to get the bike. Love these tires!~
