First some truly heartfelt Thank You(s) to...

Geezer - For jinxing the weather by bragging about how great the New England weather was, just before our trip started. :)

Ionbeam - For the heads-up phone message about Mt Washington being closed the morning we planned to visit.

MartyA & Sally - For braving the rain to escort us to the NY border.

FJREd & Grace - For being such awesome hosts for VT and magnificent pics.

Spklbuk - For guiding me on the all-day recon tour for Lewisburg/EOM 2008. I have some great route info for this year!

Grumpy - For letting me steal his spare Mich PR2.

And ALL those who provided route suggestions, feedback and the valuable local information that made this such a wonderful experience.

Worth noting are a couple POIs not listed below. We spent one night in Niagara Falls. Having never seen the falls in person before, I can honestly say that it's a must-see sight. Disappointing was the way the area has become "Canadian Disney World" so close to the park itself. We stayed on the Canadian side and had a super-nice hotel room at the Courtyard Marriott, jacuzzi and all. Amazingly, somebody slipped-up and allowed me to re-enter the USA without a problem. :)

The Adirondacks were everything I had heard they would be... NOTHING BUT TREES!!! Lots of lakes, beautiful lakes, great place to spend a week fishing or hiking. But I was hoping for some mountainous motorcycle terrain and was very disappointed.

I purposely avoided taking any pictures of the all-day route recon ride Jim Meadows(Spklbuk) and I made on Day-9. I'm saving that info for the GPS file with loads of info for EOM-2008.

All you nay-sayers should be proud of me. I throttled down the entire trip and stopped for loads of pictures along each day's route. The objective was to sweep the northeast and have a safe return in 10 days with no performance awards, injuries or property damage. Mission accomplished thanks to so much help from my friends along the way.

Here's what the 10-day route track looked like.

Hwy-219 from Lewisburg WV to PA is always good.

Wind Generators popped up just as we passed from WV to Maryland. A superb and totally unexpected surprise.

Yours truly at the Adirondack Museum in NY.

Nothing compared to Grace's shots, but here was my view from the FJR descending Mt Washington.

Another WV surprise along the return leg.

A couple more pics to add...

Ya'll know my propensity for dams, so damnit...

I think this was somewhere in VT, maybe NH? GPS log will tell for sure. I was not hungry and had plenty of gasoline, so I was not lost.

Still could not get Grace off the witness protection plan.

Grace (missing witness protection disguise) and FJRed.

Them was some guuud blueberry pancakes we had at the little diner that morning. FJRed discovered one of the true benefits of WhereTo, FoodLodging on a Zumo. "You mean it can tell you where to find food?" he said. :)

The Zumo is definitely on my Christmas list!

Grace and I had a great time "tagging along" on a little part of your vacation. Be sure to let me know if you're coming up this direction again.

Ed.

What, no Moose?
Great Pics, Jeff. Looks like a very memorable trip.
When I stuck the Rebel flag in the moose, he ran like hell before I could get a picture or even offer an explanation to the poor creature.

:)

FWIW, it has rained almost every day since you were here. More rain this weekend. :(

My own theory is that the smaller the mountains the more and better motorcycling roads there are. There are some really good roads in the Adirondacks, as Jim (zoom) and Iris (herflr) recently showed us, but you have to know where to look. That park is enormous.

I ran some of Jim and Iris' roads on the return through NY. Hwy-30 I think it was, was nearly a private track around a water reservoir. I suppose my feelings about the Adirondacks comes into alignment with reality, if you leave off the word "mountains" from the name. Nice place, just not what I was expecting.

Sorry about the rain. You can blame it on the warming effects of Rebel flags.

:)

I was hoping to ride the western part of NY with you, as it turned out I was in Kansas City while you were up in our area. You had more fun than I did. :p

It's great to see you make it back with actual pictures and no performance awards! There is hope for you yet!

Looks like you had a great trip. Wish I could've done it with you.

Pshaaa! That's what all the flat landers say... ;)

Glad you had such a successful trip, Jeff. You really did it up nicely.

We only did half a route. Guess you'll just have to come back to run the rest. See you next weekend?!!? :D

And very many thanks for transforming my bike. Me and Ray did 425 miles today to test `er out.

Disappointing was the way the area has become "Canadian Disney World" so close to the park itself.
As a Canadian, let me offer my most sincere apologies for the ugliness that is the area around Niagara Falls. I don't know what came over us but, rest assured, the rest of Canada (except for the town of Banff) is nowhere near as horrendous.

Sounds like it was a great trip ! Thanks for posting the pics. Did you bring some of the rain back with you ? N.C. could use some !

Throughout the entire trip, rain avoided me like the plague. Only the boldest of thunderstorms was willing to wash us off. Nothing followed us home.

:(
