Meanwhile the threads are eating up system resources and cluttering up the new posts list, not to mention the rate at which bonefied threads tend to disintegrate and become useless for further discussion.  I got tired of it about a month ago, but things just kept getting worse and worse.  When other users started complaing about them is when we took action.

Now THAT'S a solid reason I understand. Eating up resources.

Other members complaining? They don't have to open the thread. Change the channel. Someone's behavior out of line? Tell 'em, warn 'em. Sorry, I don't accept that as a valid reason.

But resources getting scarce? THAT I deal with everyday....

As for whiners crying and complaining, why do they bother reading something that is going to upset them. Sort of like O'Reilly's lawsuit recently where the lady attempted to sue him for allegedly talking dirty to her on the phone for an EXTENDED period of time. Apparently never heard of just hanging up.

Anyhow, the free market.... now there is an idea. You guys might be able to solicit "donations" and give access to to a REAL anything goes column, to those who support the site. Of course the thought police might still be needed for the crybabies who don't like to be "FORCED" to read threads whose authors and ideas they disagree with.

Ooops, sorry for the bandwidth usage here, but I forgot to mention my support for getting rid of the "Completely Off-Topic Discussions" part of the forum.

How about relabeling to the "Sort of Anything goes Off-Topic Discussions"

'cause after all, since this site is ONLY to discuss motorcycle related subject matter, how can any off-topic or Harley D material be tolerated???

Warchild, I gotta tell you.  You and the other admins have EVERY right to shut down the arguing and the debates--it's your board.  But I don't think it's the wisest decision you guys have made--throwing out the baby with the bath water.

In fact, in your description above on how you want this board to be, you have NO reason to even leave "Completely Off-topic Discussions" as a forum.  You should remove it.

I read a lot of the other topics to learn but don't have anything to really add.

So the political stuff gave me something to do. It made the day go faster and kept me thinking of the topics at hand.

I will miss them but also realize that nothing any of us said will ever change any ones else's point of view. They already believe what they believe.

I don't go to the strictly political forums because that's all they are political.

Here at least we all know we have at least one thing in common and I personally kept it as civil as possible knowing that one day I might need the other person for something they actually do know something about, motorcycles. :lol:

I believe that the political banter is still allowed in 'Totally Off-Topic' over in the EZboards Gold Room. Maybe Sparky, MOTORGOD, JPD, Downy, YankTar and the other political scholars could go there to discuss Amerikas current dilemma. The search function may not work well over there but it's better than the 'chat' room.
