thanks in advance for suggestions on who to talk to about best pricing on YES contracts

Although the FAQ is helpful, it's not clear on this issue.

The exception is if you live in Florida (your profile doesn't say). The FAQ states:

In the USA, the Y.E.S. contract is available and must be bought before your factory warranty (12 months) expires.

A YES contract is a 4 year Yamaha product. All dealers pay Yamaha the same price for that product. The difference in pricing to customers is all "markup". The Y.E.S. product is recognized by Yamaha dealerships nationally no matter where it was originally purchased (except Florida)

You can get a 48 month YES for around $390 at D&H Cycles. D&H Cycle, 18115 US Hwy 31, Cullman, AL 35058, 256-739-1840, 888-553-3311

The difference in Florida is the price. Florida warranties on vehicles (bikes or cars) are fixed in price by the state. If you live in Florida you must buy a warranty from a Florida dealer not like others than can buy from any state they want. The Florida price is fixed at ~700.00. The FAQ also misleads someone to believe it won't be recognized nationally. When I purchased mine I was told that this is not the case, it's still good in any state, it has has to be purchased from a florida dealer....yes, I believe the FAQ should be corrected.

Not quite true.

The law says that only licensed sellers can offer insurance policies (and YES is deemed to be an insurance policy).

The law also says that sellers may not charge MORE than MSRP for these policies - there is NOTHING that says they can't discount. The concept is to protect consumers from unscrupulous insurance companies.

However, as it is a closed market, the dealers simply have a virtual monopoly and have price-fixed the plan.

However there IS a work-around. It isn't complicated and it works just fine;

- Get the co-operation of an out of state friend and call Yamaha to tell them you have 'moved' to that friend's address.

- Contact D&H (or whomever you'd like to buy the plan from) and purchase the YES. When the paperwork arrives have your friend or relative send the documents to you.

- Call Yamaha back and give them you 'new' address, which just happens to be the one you used before.

Note that you do not change your registration, just your address of record with Yamaha.

Your YES is purchased and valid and you've saved more than $300 PLUS TAX.
