This past weekend I took the bike for a run in the Malibu hills on Sat w/o the bags for the first time. It was a blast. Then today, Sunday, I basically did the same ride fully dressed. Santa Monica up PCH to Latigo Canyon over to Encinal Canyon and back down PCH. Great ride! Bike does handle more sporty w/o bags etc but really handles very nice loaded. Since I had the bags on today I rode more leirsurely and stopped here and there for some pics. Thought some of you snowed in folks and those w/o curvy roads would particularly enjoy!! :yahoo:

Malibu sunset. Looking North you can see the tail end of Santa Cruz Island. Nice afternoon. About 100 miles round trip.

This is January?
Whats all that green stuff covering the hills?

Is it toxic?
I lived in CA until '97 (Santa Barbara & San Jose)... when it's green, it must be winter, 'cause summer scenery had lots of brown-grass hills in the countryside. It still amazes me that here in S.Germany the grass stays green all year round (even under light snows).

beautiful pictures! Not snowed in... but do live in the flatlands & smart to stay out of the mountains right now. Appreciate the pics.

& my take riding loaded & unloaded... unless I have a ton of extra weight on my bike, I really don't feel much difference if I shed the bags.

Nice pics. Roads look inviting.

But how do you keep that bike so clean? You hanging out with that Fairlaner character?

[edit] we got curves here, but they're buried under the white stuff. And when that melts they're gonna be bumpy as hell
