I was finally able to get DSL at my office. Welcome to the 21st century here in stixville.

I was jumping around trying different sites. I went through all the newer posts here and decided to go to "the other board".

Funny thing was, I thought I was having a bad flashback. No sooner did I blaze through a myriad of web pages that popped up complete before my eyes, I get there to EZ board and wait.

And wait.

And wait.

Screen pops up, pick a topic.

And wait.

And wait.

I might as well just have my first modem for that page. What was that thing, 8K or something like that?

It's so good to be on THIS board. Thank you for hosting us!

Now you might have to deal with me even more often that you could have ever dreamed. Sad. So sad.

:bleh:

Hell, I coulda told ya that. Have ultra high speed connection here at work, EZ has always loaded on it's best day like a 28k Wal Mart special. It ain't us. ;) welcome, however, to the 21st Century.

Agree. After finding and joining this board, I would go back to EZ occasionally just to see what info was being posted there...and wait...and wait...and wait. OK, you get the picture.

Now, I don't even bother going over there. I likee the 21st century.

I can get Roadrunner out here, but the neighbors (and friends in town) tell me that the system is down a lot. Like more than monthly. And I'm at the end of the lines. Bummer. That's at my house. I've had DSL here for about a year. If I ever dump satellite tv and go for the cable, I'll probably switch to the whole cable package.

At my office in town, I don't do as much surfing, so cable would be overkill. Especially since I don't have and don't want TV's in there. There were rumors about a wireless company setting up, but in a town of 8000, and it's the largest in the county, I'm not getting my hopes up. Heck, I barely get a cell signal in Stixville. So DSL will suffice. For now.

For $10 more a month than dial up, I'm on it. Plus it will free up the extra phone line. Soon as those knuckleheads send me the multi line filters.

Gotta like the DSL, though.

TWN, you got nuthin to worry bout.

;)

Had Road Runner for three years and loved it. Now I am on 50K DIAL-UP!!!!! AAAHH. Awful. Its like going back to tin cans or something. I pray for DSL...I am proud for you.....

So far so good. They finally sent me ONE multi line DSL filter. I'm getting by. My main multi line phone is plugged into it with some remote wireless handsets strategically placed in the office.

The speed is quite good, and it's nice to have the line untied.

Just got to make sure and have a DAM good firewall. They aren't kidding about worms and viruses getting in within minutes of getting online.

I spent 37 years installing communication equipment. Started in the 60's when things were a bit slower. I remember putting in a system at Wards when they upped the speed from 110bps to 300bps. Can you imagine how long it would take to send :haha: at 300bps? By my calculations, I am now operating at approximately 1,302,000bps. That's like comparing a Hardly to a Feejer.
