Ever since the test ride in the parking lot of a BMW dealer ship I've wanted a FJR. Someone was selling an 07 AE and let me tool around the parking lot on it. Now im hooked.

I commute most every day on my Honda Sabre and almost each day I feel less and less comfortable on it. The other day what pulls out right behind me, but an 08 FJR. He catches up and I allow him to pass so I can drool in my helmet with out having to take my eyes off the road too long. :dribble: I have to admit they are beautiful bikes. One day it will be my turn to make some other rider jealous. :yahoo:

After stalking the forum for a year or so there isn't much that anyone can do to make it worse. I'm just waiting for the money. Biggest hurdle is selling the one I got now and not having a ride till I can cover the difference.

That is a nice 09 and would happily ride it for him ( poor things only got 900 miles on it). Looks like he is in Washington from his post though.

I'm sure that when im ready there will be an 08 09 waiting for me all farkeled up and ready for me to ride.

So, I'll ask -- is your Sabre a V65/V45/V40 or is it the poor V2 that should never have been named Sabre? If it is a real V4 Sabre I can probably help you turn it into cash PDQ when you are ready to move to a FJR.

You're welcome here. I lurked here almost 2 years before I was able to buy my Feejer. It was worth wait! :yahoo:

Officially its called Newport News, but we have lots of other fitting names for it.
I am just south of you in Chesapeake. I can ride by and make you jealous if you want me to. :p
you can ride by any time as long as you don't mind...... :stunned:

Its a 2006 so yes its the V2, for a first bike I couldn't ask for better though. I'ts been real reliable and maintenance free. Riding it taught me lots about what I do and don't want in a motorcycle.

Crispy, I'm just north of you in Middlesex county. I don't know what year/price range you are looking for, but as I just bought mine recently, I can send you a spreadsheet of every craigslist FJR between Miami and NYC under 7k.

Welcome aboard!

My first bike after a 30 yr riding hiatus was an '06 Sabre. As you mentioned, it was a great bike to regain my riding legs with. But I upgraded to black cherry FJR then picked up a Honda Valkyrie for grins.

I wish you the best of luck in getting your FJR - they are very good bikes, you'll enjoy the ride.

thanks guys,

im looking for a 08-09. i keep my eyes open on the for sales section here and hope for the one that catches my eye and wallet then have to convince the better half to spend the cash. then comes selling the current scooter.

the bike for me will show up one day. just as the sabre did when i was looking for my first bike

Love my '08. I waited for many years for an FJR. Definitely worth the wait. Smile every time I ride it!

Good luck!

I love this bike more than any other I have owned. It just feels right (other than my dead hand issue, but that will soon be rectified.) I just love the way this thing feels - solid, powerful, and willing to do anything I ask it. The twitchiness of my crotch rockets isn't there. It's SO mature. Almost perfect out of the box for me. The farkles I am adding go to safety and visibility. Bars are the only farkle I needed to make it near perfect. Love it!

I too upgraded from a VT1100, but mine was a shadow spirit, fully farkled. Just a thought (and it's probably heresy), but my intermediate upgrade (mostly because of price) was a used kawasaki concours. I know, completely different technology. But don't count out the least expensive, bullet-proof connie. They too have an amazing user group.

(and...an 04 to 06 concours is probably a straight-up trade for the sabre)

riding back from the farmers market saturday, what do I think I see but a black FJR in the lot of a bike dealership. now to find my way back over there and hope for a real test drive. then hopefully I can find out what all you already know.

I'm hoping for some karma to come back my way.

Same ride back from the farmers market theres a guy and his small son on a custom chopper. loaded down with enough gear for a week (some how he got it on there) and a flat rear tire. He was in the turn lane moving pretty slow. I slowed beside him to make sure he was OK and since he was in the turn lane with his signal on one would assume he was heading in to the adjacent parking lot for repairs. I was only about 3 min from my house, so I run the wife home so she can leave on her trip, grab the patch kit and the compressor and jet back in the truck to help the guy with his flat. About 10 min lapsed between me leaving him in the turn lane and getting back with the truck. I made lots of circles in the nearby parking lots where I left him but could not find even the bike. I' m only to assume that he lived down the street in the apartments behind the shopping center he was pulling into. I tried.
