Youtube Going to ****

I have notice youtube muting some of my videos... They are claiming some copyright BS.. First of all none of my videos are for sale, or am selling anything from them.. WTF who really cares here they are nothing but a home made movies..

I have had other Youtube users complaining about the same issues... Whats to say when i was making the video i have radio on in the back ground????..

Anyone else finding this and issue????

blip.tv did the same to one of my vids, funny, they let the others with less popular tunes alone. Its pretty boring watching a 10min vid that, despite kick *** roads, is dead silent.

My understanding is that the music companies have been demanding royalties for public performance of their copyrighted music, and are basically forcing YouTube to take this course of action. The alternatives are remove the entire video, or mute the "offending" audio track, and it seems YouTube have chosen the latter method.

Just as there are other sites to host the videos on, there are also websites that offer copyright free music, although the choice is limited and much of it is crap.

Years ago, my ex-girlfriend had a Hair & Beauty Salon, and regularly played the radio as background music for her clients. Nothing fancy, just a little $20 radio sitting on a countertop, but the music police (Performing Rights Society in the UK). came in and threatened to close her down if she did not buy a license to play the radio publicly. They insinuated she was stealing the music!!! The radio was immediately removed, and it became a silent salon for a little while, which was not at all pleasant during bikini waxing season. (Thankfully Brazilian waxing wasn't in vogue at that time!).

My personal thoughts are that these soundtracks are promoting their music, therefore the music companies should be paying the video maker. If I see a video with a catchy tune, I am inclined to find out more about the music, browse over to iTunes, and buy the song, and potentially the whole album.

We are supposedly in a new millenium, yet we are being forced to experience the silent movie era prior to the 1920's all over again. :angry:

Must be the times. I have heard that Sony threw some fits about people selling Sony stuff on ebay and simply copying/pasting the 'specs' from the sony.com website.

I am no lawyer and I didnt stay at a Holiday Inn last night but it seems to me that as long as you have no Sony trademarks or brand images in your add, it is simply text you are copying over. Who is to say you didnt simply type it in Word and then put it in your ad.

Look at Myspace or https://music.podshow.com/ for rights free music just add a end screen giving the artist props. A lot of it is talent trying to get a break. Screw youtube and the RIAA.

I've had about 10% of my vids taken down because of the music backing them. A friend of mine just lost her account (and over 400 vids) over the same issue.

Speaking to my son the other day about viruses and issues with the computer as we just had to do a complete re-install and he said he had heard of music companies on myspace offering up supposed free downloads of music and when downloaded you would also get a virus for free of course, so as not to acquire the music without paying and cause one discouragement. Don't know the truth in this but that would be low if so. Wouldn't surprise me....PM. <>< :blink:

Like HappyPuppy mentioned above, go with royality-free music and your problem is solved.

at work we've begun blocking youtube, netflix, XM and Sirius as well as nearly every other streaming media source. seems some people don't understand "limited personal use" so a significant amount of bandwidth was going to "no work-related activities".
