At the end of last season everything was working fine. However, when I put the Zumo on the cradle on the bike a few days ago... Nothing...

It will charge when it's in the car cradle and all of the functions preform just fine. No locking or similar software bug type problems. I even reloaded the latest software version from Garmin WebUpdater thinking that there may have been a bug. Still didn't work. When I run the unit off the battery, sitting on the mororcycle cradle, the fuel gauge isn't enabled, so the Zumo doesn't even know that the motorcycle cradel is present, much less receiving the charging/operation voltage.

Here's all of the things I've checked:

Battery - OK

Connections - OK

Fuse - OK

Leads to the cradle - OK

Plug that goes into the cradle - OK

Voltage across various pins - Present

So I'm sure that the cradle is getting and putting out voltage, I just don't have a pin out voltage map to check against. I also cannot rule out that the Zumo itself doesn't have a problem...

Does anyone have a pin out voltage map for the Zumo's motorcycle cradle? Anyone with a Zumo and a motorcycle mount live close to Indianapolis or Cincinnati that I could try my unit on their cradle? I'd make it easy on you by meeting you and would even buy you lunch for your time. :)

I love my Zumo and running it on battery this riding season just won't cut it...

Have you checked to make sure you didn't do a boneheaded move like I did?
clicky

Yeah, checked the wire. I have it coiled in the front fork area and was able to trace the length of the wire from start to finish without any damaged wire...

I have seen replacement cradles on ebay and such, but want do the easy trial before shelling out the money in case it is the unit itself. :(

Not sure if this will help, but, make sure connection pads on the zumo are clean. I use a q tip and radio shack tuner cleaner/lubricant. Then make sure *all* pins in the cradle are free, and fully extend. I use a pencil eraser to manipulate each pin. One of my cradles has a weak pin and requires periodic maintenance. I also use the RS cleaner/lubricant for the pins.

My Zumo 550 did the same thing last year after a week long trip mostly in the rain. There are some threads in here about the zumo cradle going out after exposure to rain (I know its supposed to be weather prroof).

I called Garmin and the guy asked me what happened, I told him and he sent me a new cradle, no questions asked. They didnt even want the old one back!

Go to the "SEARCH" and type in +zumo +cradle theres lots of info.

As posted before, mine quit working on a long trip last summer after 2 days of rain and noticed an electrical pin missing on the cradle. Garmin sent me a new free cradle in Anchorage and wanted the old one back. It still didn't work. Sounds like yours is either the cradle or the power cord since it works in your car mount. If you know someone with a Zumo on a bike that works, try yours in their cradle. Unlike yours, when I got back to my truck, it didn't work in that cradle either. A friend loaned me a car cig gps charger to try powering it, but that didn't work either. Gave up and purchase an inexpensive GPS.

I had the same problem. A week of riding in the rain did it in. Inside the cradle there is a ribbon connector between the multi pin connector and the circuit board. Water gets on the ribon and shorts out the thin gold power leads right near the end where it is attached to the circuit board.

When I got the new cradle I took it apart and coated the exposed tip of the ribbon connector with grease so it can't do that again.

Get a new cradle.

Well....thats probably better than soaking it down with Silicone spray like I did, I'll have to check that out!
