I ordered my Zumo 550 and it will be here tomorrow. If anyone is interested I paid $682 including shipping. I am sure I will get a ton of replies telling me how much I over paid but I don't care.

Now the reason for this post.

Will the Bar type mount that comes with it fit my bike or do I have to buy a ball mount for it? If so what model and best place to buy.

Anyone who would like to know where I ordered let me know. I am not sure if the forum allows me to post the web site here or not.

Thanks

Is it possible to get a Zumo 550 in the US with European maps on it? Would buy one since they cost about 580 Euros...in Germany

The bar mount will work, I used it for a couple of weeks before my stem mount came. I did not like the bar mount, positioned it too high but it will work.

I actualy took the top part of the "handle bar mount" and bolted it on one side to the "mirror" mount hole on the clutch lever.

I like this position , as opposed to having in in the center of the bars as some have done here.

I just happened to have the right sized 10mm bolt here so that is what I used. Have had no problems with it moving, vibrating , and it is easier to read being closer to my face. And I like not having to move my hand too far off the left grip to hit the touch screen.

I got it bolted where the clutch lever bolts on. Removed the existing clutch mounting bolts, added the spacers provided with the ZUMO, added the provided mounting ball and rail, and put it all together with the provided bolts. If you don't use the spacers, and/or remove 1/2 of clutch mount as suggested by Garmin, the bolts will be too long.

I suggest getting the N-Line shelf with the Zumo bracket.

I installed it on the left side of the shelf (XM radio antenna on the right) with a radar in the middle & it's great.

Thanks that is a great Picture. Now I have a good idea. If only I had a clutch. With every convenience there is a price I guess.
