I'm looking for a good replacement grip from stock.

What do you have? I'm looking for comfort and low vibration.

Thanks

Part numbers and websites are appreciated.

Tacki-grips are the best out there IMO.

I get mine locally from DSR Powersports. You can goto: DSR Powersports

or call them at 866-959-GEAR

Good guys who have always taken care of me.

I think grips come dwn to a personal choice between looks and comfort.

I first tried foam grips which just go over the stock grips which many on this forum raved about. They made the grips to big for me and with them being on top of the stock grips seemed too tight and transferred even more vibrations. I took them off.

I currently have the TakiGrips which I got from here https://www.motorhelmets.com/htm1/bodyparts...randtouring.htm

I think they are hard and the shape for me puts all my weight in the middle of my hand or right at my thumb. I have the D&D risers and had the GenMars but may go to motorcycle larry's which changes the angle and then maybe these grips would be fine.

I don't think in my experience it is one magical thing that makes the difference it is a combination of things that does it.

I have gel grips coming but not sure I will change them until I get the diff risers as I am starting to believe it is the angle more than the grips. TWN yes I am hard headed and should have listened.

I currently use the Tacki-grips also. I like the size and shape. Seems to help alleviate cramps, etyc. But I wish they weren't quite so hard. I've also used Murph's grips on my Concours and liked them alot. They're alot softer and helped absorb the Connie buzziness. Available at www.murphskits.com . I will probably switch and see how I like them on the FJR. And I like Danica Patrick too. Maybe I try her on the FJR to see how I like (haha). AS if.

I don't think she rides pillon is the only problem :D

I've had these on the last three bikes and really like them. They fit perfectly and have a soft "waffle" pattern on them.
ProGrip Off-Roadgrips model PG0714 GE Gel Black 22/25.
From?

I have taken a set of the large diameter cruiser grips similar to the Star optional grips and fitted them to the FJR. I think Pro-Grip was the last brand I used. We took a lathe to the center of the chrome end-cap and opened it up so the bar-end will still attach and not bind up on the end-cap. You end up with a little bling on the bars and if your hands are large like mine(8 ¾ inches from fingertip to wrist) they are very comfortable. The factory grips felt like pencils in my hands. Vibration is almost non-existent. I will post a pic later this evening.

I originally tried the BMW grips that I heard so much about, and really wasn't that impressed with them. They didn't seem to help with any of the vibration, and my right hand was still bothering me.

I then decided to try out the Tacki-grips since they were only about $10. My first impression of them was not too good either. I though they were too big, and my thumb was now going numb. The rest of my hand was fine, but the whole thumb thing really bothered me. I think the reason for this is because of the size of my hands. I think if my hands were a little larger, I wouldn't have the whole 'numb thumb' problem.

I've considered using some foam grips that a few people have suggested to me but the Tacki-grips are OK, and they were a pain in the *** to put on, so I'm just dealing with it for now. Overall, I would say try a few different grips, and decide what works best for you.

Here are the grips I modded for my FJR.
They actually don't look bad on there. Unfortunately, he also put straight pipes on and a Maltese Cross sissy bar. And he won't let it idle. :D

Another vote for Tacki-Grips here.

Great shape, good grip and fit my medium hand very well. Very inexpensive and easily installed with an air hose. :agent:

How did you go about cutting the ends off?

I'm already feeling bad enough about adding the polished aluminum pillon peg extenders. They look a little like bling. Oh, and the maltese cross tank badges. But that's about it. Unless I have to buy a red one next year, then I'll have to add the obligatory FD gold leaf trim. :D
