So thanks to Kaj's discovery of a Hugger from France, I contacted them and asked about a group buy on the product. They are willing to do a GB if we have enough interest.

Quote from the e mail corro I had with them

"

we know this system ( Group buy ) which is interresting for everybody.

This part is sold in black and would be more expensive

if you want it to be colour matched.

( Highlander note.. further e mailed stated the add for paint would be $90 each )

Below are the price for a plain black part.

The hugger is $179.

10 people sign up ( 10% off )

20 sign up ( 20% off )

30 sign up ( 35% off )

To give you an idea for 1 hugger shipping would be $ 30

"end quote

If there is any interest I'll give them further feedback.. any interest ???

Also Another E mail stated it did fit the 06 but we'll need to reverify this as another member was told it did not.

Count me in!

Maybe we can get a cheaper deal if all the orders were lumped together to the states, Then shipped out here. I dunno... but it's a thought! :)

So, you trying to spend my money for me? :D

Highlander - Is this hugger like the one mentioned on the international board a while back where a bunch of hacking/fitting was required for a perfect fit, or is this one bolt on perfect right out of the box?

Has this company had any issues with the fitment of their hugger and the Avon tire?

Any way this company will send you a sample for a fit check and up close quality inspection?

Sorry about all the questions, just want to make sure what I'm getting into?

The tires in the piccies are sporting some serious chicken strips, must be the 105hp french rule. :p

All good questions I 'll ask tomorrow.

Galaxy.. That was brought up in our exchange, but requires one person stateside to handle all the orders, one person buying them in bulk and dealing with X amount of separate credit cards... you'd save roughly $15 in shipping with each hugger........ain't gonna be me ! It's better to individually place orders when we get the green light, I need a few days to get enough responses from the board. I'll post up when it's a go and update the first post.

Is this hugger made of ABS or fiberglass? I sell undertails made of ABS because fiberglass can shatter or crack. Be carefull.

So, what is the purpose of a hugger? Aesthetics? Better deflection of road spooge and rocks and stuff? Does it get in the way when removing the wheel for a tire change?

That does not look like the same unit from Italy. It didn't have the molded detail lines and such, and came in a raw yellowish color IIRC.

I'll be interested if I can get funds together, if it's ABS. No fiberglass.

The Hugger is standard on many sport bikes! It keeps crud off the rear shock and provides a more complete coverage of the inner bodywork from road spoodge! It is also an alternative to the dorky OEM rear fender on the FJR, which is otherwise a very streamlined animi style battle cruizer!

I should probably save my money for gasolene, but I want one of these! Black huh? OK!

Question: Does one need to drill and tap holes in the swingarm for mounting or do these glue on somehow?

If they will fit and 06 count me in. Guess I will fill out the credit card app. that came in the mail while I wait.

Eh, slap the pass-pegs and cans back on and you can hardly see it. No gain, IMO, but thanks for the legwork, Highlander.

Looks pretty good to me,count me in if it's ABS can definitely use the help in keeping all the city crud off the rear parts

Funny that - I was just searching around for a hugger because of all the crap coming up on the panniers and rear light set. I assume that the hugger will do this. Whats ABS? Know what fibreglass is...

I have a 2001 FJR - I am in for it...I will get the black one sprayed silver locally.

Are there any UK outlets?

:D

I don't mean to slow this down but I remember googling a carbon fibre hugger from an Australian company that was a very nice looking piece. I emailed the company and they responded promptly but I never ordered one.

As I recall they made a variety of Carbon Fibre parts for motorcycles....anyone else run into these folks? I will see if I can find that stuff.

OK, gang, I found it....pricey but special....didn't review it again closely but have a look for yourselves...

Geelong Carbon Craft? They make huggers and tank protectors for the FJR, but IIRC the hugger was more expsensive than this one.
