- Short tour of the Presidio.
- Cross the Golden Gate Bridge (no toll required).
- Take the first exit (Alexander--do not go into the scenic lookout right before the Alexander exit). Go left under the freeway. Before merging back onto the Golden Gate Bridge (Hwy 101 South), bear right up the mountain.
- Go to the top of the mountain and stop briefly at the overlook of the GGB and San Francisco.
- Continue down behind the mountain and around through the one-way tunnel. Go to the stop sign; turn right.
- Merge back onto Hwy 101 North, continue through the Waldo tunnel several miles to the Hwy 1 exit.
- Take Hwy 1 all the way past Stinson Beach to Pt. Reyes Station.
- Stop at Pt. Reyes Station for gas, bathroom, etc.
- Continue north on Hwy 1 to Tomales. Stop at deli.
- Turn left on Beach Rd. Take it to Dillon Beach.
- Break for lunch at Dillon Beach.
- After lunch, head back south on Hwy 1 briefly to Tomales - Petaluma Rd.
- Left on Tomales - Petaluma Rd.
- Right on Chileno Valley Rd. (If you go past the Coast Guard station and hit the stop sign, you missed it!)
- Right on Wilson Hill Rd.
- Left on Hicks Valley Rd.
- Right on Petaluma - Pt. Reyes Rd.
- Left on Nicasio Valley Rd.
- Stop at Nicasio for a break.
- Continue on Nicasio Valley Rd.
- Left on Lucas Valley Rd. to Hwy. 101.
- Bring $4 bridge toll where you can reach it if you're crossing a bridge on your way to the rendezvous. (We will not be crossing the Golden Gate Bridge in the toll direction, so we won't need $5 for that.)
- Pack a lunch or plan to get something at the Tomales Deli. We will be stopping to get off and picnic at the beach. You may also want to pack a blanket to sit on.
- Bring $3 parking / entrance fee for Dillon Beach lunch stop.
- Bring warm- and cold-weather gear, as the coast can be unpredictable (as you all know!).
