It sounds like Brad was out playing with the new toy....in the dirt...big power, loose dirt: dirt, sky, dirt, sky...."Oh dang!"

Hans, so far the kids said nothing for that weekend, so I'm in. :yahoo:

Without stealing this thread Mike has it right. A little slice, a new screw, and some staples. <_<

I'll be riding with you guys vicariously for a while so post up on this and other upcoming rides.

Dang, Brad. Heal fast, we still need to get together to scrub off the last of my chicken strips (as suggested New Year's Day).

Sorry, we won't be able to make this one. My son has a mountain bike race that weekend we will be watching. we do wish we could go, the coast can be perfect this time of year. We rode down the coast from 128 to 116 last Saturday, and it was spectacular. Great weather, no traffic, and awesome views. Have fun.

It looks like a go for me. I will watch for updates , time, route, and meeting place.

And whoever wants to form a gang and ride there together from the Sacramento, Woodland area

just post up and lwts ride. weekend rider :D

Well dang, sounds like a great ride. I'd love to go but I have a little problem: I totaled the Z (that pissed off the wife) in February and came a little too close for comfort to totaling myself. I won't be walking 'till June and it'll probably be another month or two until I'll be riding. So y'all have a great ride and take plenty of piccies.

For lunch, to keep the group together, I'm thinking of recommending we each pack a picnic lunch (and include a stop where sandwiches could be purchased). Then have a destination of, maybe, a beach in or around Bodega Bay (where The Birds was filmed), where we break for lunch.
A pic-a-nic lunch? With this crowd? And all this time I thought the movie was filmed in the town of Bodega, about 2 miles inland.

Sounds good to me, Hans. Something different. Besides, what are side cases for, anyhow?

Uhhhmmmm, one assumes there are signs for the Presidio Parade Grounds....just for those of us who have never been there.

Holey Moley, Charles, that's 2 vehicles in a year or so? PO'd the wife-unit...d'ya think! So you and Brad can commiserate with one another since you both have 6 months of no riding.

MM2 the answer to ,what are side cases for? is---- Watch your rear view mirror and make sure you do not see them flying off your bike while watching all the cagers in front of you. Mine stayed behind to stay and enjoy the scenery while I rode on

The presido would be nice I went to a miltary court martial there for one of my high school class mates. He did not want to go to Vietnam fight did it twice the got out of service

Memories weekend rider :D

and I spent many a smoky evening toking around a campfire in the woods off the fire roads out of Kernville and Lake Isabella.
Let's get it on the calendar....

Wow, I can't say anything like that. I'm a Buddhist, and must have lived my last life as a NARC. Haunts me to this day!

Then, dcarver wrote:

KhunaJawdge and I have had a couple PM's about organizing a trip to Lake Isabella. I believe KJ is working on it being around the beginning of June. A scouting trip is planned and he'll post up the plan soon.

Stay tuned.........

Yo, you be right DC! Barrie C. (AIRHEAD #123) has just picked up his '07 FJR 1300A last Monday. We are going to meet Barabus at McNally's campground on the Kern this friday. Great place for steaks and beer. We'll let you know next week, what we discover about riding the area in June, after our meeting with the fire service in the Kern River Canyon. Accomodations, eateries, roads, fire hazard, fishing will all be part of the report. :bye:

Of course we ARE talking about Marin (Foo Foo) County, so it has to be sprouts, brie and white wine--okay, maybe not the wine. :glare:

As for finding the Presidio, if you're from out of town or the boondocks like Sacramento :p , it's hard to find your way off the Bay Bridge and through town to the Presidio. Therefore, I recommend y'all meet me right off Hwy 680 in Concord at a Starbucks, and we ride into the City together (a.k.a. my daily commute--Hwy 24 is actually one of them there state scenic highways). Or we could have breakfast down here.

BTW, I plan to explore the route this weekend and post the ride early next week....

P.S. Regarding losing side cases, I'm thinking that along with my Whiteout farkle, I rig up a zip tie farkle, or maybe even a small leather belt, to secure my bags. It don't need to be purdy; it just has to protect the bags from falling in the unlikely event that I blow the mounting. It would go around the handles of the bag and bike. Damn I'm a genius!

Something I'd like to do is to create an In Case of Emergency ride participant list. It would be a list that contains your name, handle, license plate number, and emergency contact name and number. I'd make an Excel spreadsheet and provide it along with name badge at the meet & greet.

It would serve a couple of purposes. First and foremost, if a rider--God forbid--should go down, everyone will be able to quickly ID the rider and, if necessary, help that person get oriented properly.

Secondly, it provides a list of whom we all met on the ride, not just handles but name as well.

Inclusion of your info on the list is of course optional. And it wouldn't by the way get anywhere near posting on the Internet (or Forum).

If you want to participate, please PM me with the above info. Again,

Since I'm riding from Fremont, I'd prefer to meet at the Presidio. Maybe a posted map of the Presidio with an "X marks the spot" of the meeting place (and estimated time) on it will do for me.

Pencil me in confirmed as well - thanks.

Just remember all of you boondock folks to bring plenty of money for those purty bridges you have to cross :yahoo: :yahoo: weekend rider

Location of health insurance card?

I certainly will give directions and location at the Presidio. I'm going to check it out this weekend. It will probably be a different location in the Presidio since there is not a coffee shop open on the Parade Ground.

Yes, it's me again....

This weekend, Saturday, I have the, uh, difficult duty of spending the day riding my FJR (with my buddy who knows Marin like the back of his hand and rides a Sporty) all around the Presidio and Marin to scout out the ride on the 14th.

Are there any local riders signed up for the April 14th Shiny-Hiney Ride who have the time and interest to come along this Saturday to help plot the route and possibly lead a group on the 14th (if the group gets large)?

Let me know si vous plaiz....
