Yep."Where is the 2010 NAFO?" Does anyone know where and when in the East Region it will be?
Rick, the event will be hosted by those who have run the EOM. If you will go to the EOM sites and determine who is the "mover and shaker" there, you could PM them and volunteer your time. They would be grateful for the help and those of us who have worked at behind the scenes jobs at these events thank you in advance.I have just read the latest thread on 2012 NAFO and it made wonder again "Where is the 2010 NAFO?" Does anyone know where and when in the East Region it will be?
P.S. I am semi-retired so I am available to volunteer/help where do members like me sign up?
Life is GOOD

Agreed, its certainly being considered. If the powers that be read these post and give a damn, I have to put in a plug for the Holiday Inn in Johnson City where the EOM was just held. Obviously it's in the heart of some of the most beautiful riding east of the Mississippi, but the hotel was very accomodating and the group room rate was extremely reasonable.
The more central it becomes the roads suck IMHO it'll have to stay close to KY/TN... drifting too far west encroaches on roads SFO might want to save for when they host NAFOOne would think that - if maximum participation by the greater FJR rider populace is the goal, a national gathering would be held in as central a location as possible. Holding a national event in, say, the East, pretty much excludes the vast majority of riders from the West (and vice versa). There is some amazing riding in Northern California, Oregon and Washington for instance, but I would be the first to advocate against holding a national meet in any of those locations.
Just a thought...
If I recall these events are going to be rotated through the various regions. The point of having a sportstourer like the FJR is to ride...One would think that - if maximum participation by the greater FJR rider populace is the goal, a national gathering would be held in as central a location as possible. Well, it certainly would be a change-of-pace from the Shandaken/Shinhopple area...!Kansas! I vote for Kansas.
