Johnson City was great place for EOM this year. Hope to return next year. All the good roads for Tennessee and North Carolina are close enough for day tripping. The Dragon and Snake are awesome!

well I say **** it I am gonna ride next year, I will get a group together and the wives can fly.

My wife had fun this year but will not ride all that way, that i know for sure.

Jason get your act together, we want to start planning NOW......

My guess...is somewhere in the east. :D

Head the airplanes that way...

You sure you can't have it in Fairbanks? I think I'm gonna head that way for my 50th, which will be the third week in July. I need to check out a possible real estate deal in the area while I'm there....

One would think that - if maximum participation by the greater FJR rider populace is the goal, a national gathering would be held in as central a location as possible. Holding a national event in, say, the East, pretty much excludes the vast majority of riders from the West (and vice versa). There is some amazing riding in Northern California, Oregon and Washington for instance, but I would be the first to advocate against holding a national meet in any of those locations.
Just a thought...
If I recall these events are going to be rotated through the various regions. The point of having a sportstourer like the FJR is to ride...

For the SPORTStourer side of things, you'll need to have a twisty riding destination. The FJR just begs for that. People will not want to ride a thousand + miles to meet in corn country...you're going to see that anyway crossing this great land, so you might as well end up in twisty heaven. I for one WILL NOT go to a NAFO in central Illinois...though it would be convenient. I would put myself out of my misery first.

For the SportsTOURER side of things, these events are spread 2 YEARS APART so people have plenty of time to accumulate extended vacation time if they desire to attend the NAFO meet. griff and I attended the CFR in British Columbia and used only 7 vacation days...and we wandered for quite a bit before we got to CFR.

It can be done...even by a non-ironbutt candy ass like myself.
Hey Wheatie! I rode farther than you!! :yahoo:

I am going to England for my 50th and thats the 2nd week of July which just happens to coincide with the World Cup....... :clapping: :clapping:

So Jason No EOM between June 29th and July 14th ok....

Wheaton has it exactly right.

WFO hosted the first NAFO and chose to hold the event towards the eastern edge of the Western U.S. Colorado....where there are clearly great roads.

EOM hosts the next one and may choose a place in the East that is accessible by other people in the continent, but I'm sure will be a place with great riding opportunities. Also, take a look at that Member Map. There are whole lot more FJR owners in the East than the West. ;)

I look forward to what the great volunteers of EOM staff come up with!
I look forward to attending NAFO next year no matter where the organizers of EOM decide to have it. This year was my first EOM, the overall combination of venue, riding, relatively inexpensive registration fee, room cost, amount of meals and doorprizes ( and yes I did win one!) give me confidence that these people know exactly what they are doing.

Set the time and place. I will be there. Thank you for organizing one of the best rally's I have attended period. :drinks:

Richard just wants to be there to defend his ill-gotten Nafo-Kart title...

Hey Fairlaner, the folks in England may have some difficulty understanding that California accent of yours, just a thought. ;)

If the powers that be read these post and give a damn, I have to put in a plug for the Holiday Inn in Johnson City where the EOM was just held. Obviously it's in the heart of some of the most beautiful riding east of the Mississippi, but the hotel was very accomodating and the group room rate was extremely reasonable.
Yeah, I agree with that choice. Can I make the arrangements for the group to get one of the free rooms?
Seriously though, July/August is my vote as taking that much time is easier during these months.

Gee Wheatie that's a litttle hash isn't it. C'mon down, I can show you a good 3.2 mile of twisties here in central cornland. :dribble:

Wheaton's right Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, S. E. Ohio, even Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois along the Ohio river basin.

whats the difference between a BOston accent and a massivetwotits accent????? :dntknw:
