Tomorrow I'm riding the FJR up to Lynnwood Cycle Barn, parking it and riding off on a Harley Davidson Street Glide.

I'm tired of riding Jap Crap and want a "Real" motorcycle. And if you believe that, I've got a bridge for sale. :p

Okay, the real story is that I have a free harley rental for one day and I'm using it tomorrow. I won it during our get together the morning of last years Seattle bike show. Thanks again to Niehart for lining up all those awesome door prizes! :yahoo:

I haven't ridden a hardley since the early 80's when I lived in Daytona and took advantage of a demo ride during bike week. I was completely underwhelmed! I did sit on one last year to hold it up while my buddy went into the hardware store to find a new bolt for his sidestand after the original one fell out due to excessive vibration. :dribble: I hear that the new hardley's are much better than the old ones, although I'm fairly certain I'll be disappointed in the lack of acceleration and poor ground clearance in turns.

Anyone have a good suggestion for good hardley riding roads in the north end? I don't usually get up north, so I figure I'll cruise up there before having to be back in Bonney Lake by 6pm.

They're fun to beat-on (especially test-ride and rental bikes). :)

They'll do mondo rear wheel spins -- burnouts....

I have an '09 Ultra Classic.

Yes, the Harley will definitely not accelerate like the FJR. No comparison.

Other than that, my Harley is very comfortable and, for a 900+ pound pig, handling is pretty decent. Brakes are up to the task as well.

Enjoy your ride!

Glad your getting a chance to use the prize.
Ben Howard Road starts just North of Monroe and runs along the south side of the river towards the west to Sultan. It's a great ride!
Nice ride. Stop in Snohomish at Stewarts, a good ole bike bar. In Monroe, there's a nice bar on Lewis Street called the Trackside. After your ride on BH Road, there's a couple of bars in Sultan that are OK. Then stop at Docs in Machias.

:p

Well, you are riding a Harley!

Stephen, You got the right idea. It'll be maybe a little boring if you don't stop and have a couple of drinks on the ride. :pirate: :acute:

boy oh boy...

i know someone who went from a V-twin to an in-line 4 who jokingly asked for advice on when to shift.

i suspect you might be asking yourself the same question for the first hour or so.

so... be careful - and have fun.

Y'all can make all the fun that you want.

The Harley does what it is supposed to do very well. It is not meant to keep up with the FJR's, although that depends on the rider.

It is meant to cruise and enjoy the ride and the experience. Notice all of the MILFs watching you as you sit next to the minivans.

Take your time and enjoy the ride and you might be pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

Yes. I 5 and any approiate bar that happens along.

You will love the Harley, and might just end up selling the ricecycle. Something about a Harley... visceral, emotional, soul stirring. A lifestyle. Don't forget the rub on tats...

Harold, will you be allowed to ride if you don't have (in this order) a beanie helmet, sleeveless shirt, fingerless or no gloves, tattoos, wallet on a chain, leather jacket or excess facial hair? Just kidding  . I had a few Harleys early on in my riding career but can't afford to go back and probably wouldn't if could since just like ST bikes or adventure tourers better now.

I've ridden a 07 Street Glide for the last 2 years, the 09 frame change has made them handle better , the Brembo's make them stop better.

They are archaic, and certainly not for everybody, especially folks who want a high performance platform.

Even with the 103 kit and cams it only has adequate power ( 111 lbs ft at the rear wheel) .

My 18 yr old daughter , and my girlfriend however love it . It is a comfortable ( with a heated Corbin) , relaxing place to spend the day.

I bought it after bringing my daughter to the bike show and having her sit on everything that had bags , she liked it the best.

She told me flat out she'd never ride on the back of an FJR, although as a pilot it would be ok.

The chance to share the road with her over the last 2 years has been wonderful , and now she plans on getting her own bike after college.

( She dreams of a Ducati.. .good taste!) As she heads off to college , the HD will get sold and an FJR will replace it.

Enjoy the ride , they are not bad for old overpriced dinosaurs.

By the way , no tattoos here, always were a full face and a jacket with crash pads /gloves boots .. not all HD riders are like "the Sons of Anarchy"

.

Don't forget the Doo rag, thick neck, assless chaps, and Harley vest. :tomato:

Watch out for the lack of ground clearance in the corners, fully expect to see pictures of scraped up floor boards
