yabbut it's still a part of the name. Ya know? "Assless Chaps" is like saying "Blue Jeans".

Well... except there was that Mr. Green Jeans character...

I hear that the new hardley's are much better than the old ones, although I'm fairly certain I'll be disappointed in the lack of acceleration and poor ground clearance in turns.
I have an '09 Ultra Classic.

Yes, the Harley will definitely not accelerate like the FJR. No comparison.

Other than that, my Harley is very comfortable and, for a 900+ pound pig, handling is pretty decent. Brakes are up to the task as well.

Enjoy your ride!

Oh Horseshit! Ultra my arse..

Not only is it not a Hardley It's nowhere close to an Ultra

Can ya believe ol' putznutz gave twenty plus large for that?

Damn thirtysomethings

:jester:

Stop in Snohomish at Stewarts, a good ole bike bar. In Monroe, there's a nice bar on Lewis Street called the Trackside. After your ride on BH Road, there's a couple of bars in Sultan that are OK. Then stop at Docs in Machias.

:p

Well, you are riding a Harley!
How far away from each other are those bars? I just want to make sure I don't violate the Harley rule that says you can't ride more than 20 miles without stopping. :D

Y'all can make all the fun that you want.
The Harley does what it is supposed to do very well. It is not meant to keep up with the FJR's, although that depends on the rider.

It is meant to cruise and enjoy the ride and the experience. Notice all of the MILFs watching you as you sit next to the minivans.

Take your time and enjoy the ride and you might be pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.
I understand the idea behind a Harley; it's just not for me as a regular thing. But I plan on enjoying the experience and having fun with it.

How true about the MILF's. The general public has bought into the "Harley's are cool" and "bigger is better" ideas. But I don't think the wife will be very happy if I bring a MILF home. :axesmiley: :headbonk:

Harold, will you be allowed to ride if you don't have (in this order) a beanie helmet, sleeveless shirt, fingerless or no gloves, tattoos, wallet on a chain, leather jacket or excess facial hair? Just kidding  . ..doctorj
Don't forget the Doo rag, thick neck, assless chaps, and Harley vest. :tomato:
Think they'll kick me out of the Harley shop? I don't have any of those except a First Gear leather jacket. It is a black jacket, so I might be able to infiltrate their ranks. :p

Ben Howard Road starts just North south of Monroe and runs along the south side of the river towards the west east to Sultan. It's a great ride!
Where exactly is Ben Howard Rd. and Sultan again? ...no wonder you always sweep! :p ;)

Take I-5 north & 530 east to Arlington and continue heading east on 530 to Darrington. Continue on 530 to Rockport or TL on Sauk River Road which will drop you out on Hwy 9 just south of Sedro Woolley. If you continue on 530 to Rockport, take SR20 back into Sedro Woolley. From there pick your poison...either 9 south and over to I-5 or just slab it back.

This is a fun 4 - 5 hour loop with lots of nice scenery. Have fun on the HOG.

I rode a Harley for ten years and until I sold it for an FJR I had no idea what a good handling bike was. The Harley with the same custom saddle from the same makers are fairly comfortable ride. Mine was beautiful! Chrome everywhere, I just couldn't keep the mofo running. That damn tractor motor gave me fits... and, until I could get a reasonable price for it I hung in there being an unhappy Harley owner of one beautiful ******* bike that I couldn't trust to go anywhere for fear I couldn't make it back. And that's how it was... :glare:

Sorry for the late reply, just looked in on this thread out of curiosity...

most people I know that have Hardly's ride them on their trailers... :yahoo:

Didn't see your post until too late. :( I'll save your route for a future ride.

I did find Ben Howard road (thanks Niehart!) and it was a nice twisty cruise through farmland. Reminds me of Green Valley Road off Hwy 18 near Auburn, which I also rode on the way home. These twisty roads revealed some of the limitations of the HOG; excessive effort to lean, insufficient clearance, low power and too heavy. But I knew all that going in so I just puttered at a relaxed pace.

Stopped in to see Jim Truitt (vol210). He was busy in a torture session (physical therapy) to regain the use of his legs. He's optimistic and hoping to be back home soon (I can't remember exactly, but I think he said sometime in November is his goal).

Full ride report coming up.....

Try a goldwing...................that'll probably be my next bike after my engine gives up on the FJR (although it's got MANY MANY years before that'll happen)

I just don't get the big Harley thing, I've ridden a few but think it must have been what riding bikes in the 1930s was like. I honestly would rather drive a small sports car, like a 350Z, Honda S2000 or even an Mx5 Miata, I really think any those cars are more fun.

BTW, I own a 350ZR (roadster) but use my FJR more.

Saw this post and thought it was Friday already!

So, once you're officially kitted out (as described earlier) you'll need a couple of beers to get warmed up. Throw your leg over the bike and head for the nearest straight road. When the fillings in your teeth begin to feel loose, it's time to shift. Do be aware that there will be a lot of traffic stuck behind you, while you're not riding at FJR speed. The mirrors are for decorative purposes only, once the motor is running.

Head down the straight road to the next bar, then repeat until it's time to come home. Some kind person with a pick up truck or trailer should be able to help you out there.

What a wonderful way to really appreciate the virtues of your FJR. Just think how wonderfully light, flickable and fast the big girl will feel after riding the cruiser.

Seriously though, have fun. Take a few minutes to smell the roses and enjoy a completely different kind of riding.

The good news about riding a Harley, you can go to any Biker Bar and not be hassled about your ride.

Made fun of, but not hassled.
