I learned my lesson long ago and only buy Yuasa. Higher CCA and longer life. I do not like getting stranded, especially now that I have an AE which cannot be bump started.I'm looking for a battery for 2007 FJR. Which brand do you all use?
So you fell for the old "The FJR's battery is under the airbox" joke too???My original was 5+ years, about 60K miles. The swap took about an hour or so.
That is a true statement about the delay between adding electrolyte and charging the battery. The FJR battery is a sealed gel cell -- simply trickle charge the new battery until fully charged, install and vaarooom.Read an article of interest on bike batteries, stated that frequently replacement batteries are not serviced correctly, when initially freshened (electrolite added) they should be allowed to "soak" for at least 1/2 hr before charging or you will be looking at premature sulfation on the replacement battery. This author also stated he replaces his bike batteries after 3yrs. cause you can never tell for sure about its state of well being, checks good one minute, gone the next. Given the surprising size (to me)of the FJR battery I might just do that.
