Armed Riders

Since a similar topic hi-jacked another thread....

Do you carry around town or just cross country? I love my .357's and take them on vacation but not on a quicky around town.

Also, Do you show your second amendment right, or conceal?

Interesting question you posed. I'll be curious what people have to say.

I don't get my bike until April, but will probably have a pistola with me more often than not, certainly on road trips. Fortunately, my profession gives me a pass to conceal. If it didn't, I'd definitely have a permit here in Oregon and be checking the laws of the states I plan to ride through. Wouldn't be worth landin' in the gray bar hotel and having my bike towed! :blink:

I carry on long trips, but not around town usualy.

If I remember correctly there used to be a federal law that allowed you to carry a firearm if traveling accross country..as long as you could prove you were actualy in route to your destination and not taking side trips..Can't find anything about that now however...

I always pack for a cross country or out of town trip. If it is clean and registered to you all it is is a mistimeaner? spelling?, you are given back the gun and pay a fine. Just declare when stopped you are carrying and let the officer retrieve the gun. Ask me how I know.

You really need to check with state laws as they vary widely throughout our Country. Unfortunately they change quite often, as well, so it is really tough to know your legal rights unless you keep vigilant.

A gun in every vehicle. The FJR is armed with a Taurus snub nosed bobbed hammer 38 special in stainless with rubber grip.

I'm always armed when I ride..... I find diffcult to ride without arms.

Well I have never even held a hand gun. Not legal in these parts. But I would like to see what it is like to fire one. I mean how hard can it be. All 3 Charlie's Angels could hit a dime from a football field away!!

Think there are any places to try that around Reno when I am at WFO?

There might be a couple WFO-5 Staff members you could ask.... they might possibly know a place or two.....

good idea for a new Olympic event; FJR Biathlon. Or maybe some variant of medieval jousting. with armed riders approaching each other.

Then a companion event could be the spectator scramble to salvage the good parts left from the losers ride.

All kinds of possibilities.

I don't dare. First off, I'd need a trailer for all the ammo, as well as an attorney and a bail bondsman, the trail would be long and bloody.

Hmm FJR biathlon event.

Jousting, more of a HD lifestyle kind of thing.

Texas law allows overnight trip crossing three or more county lines to carry. Otherwise, I don't. As far as you know.

And here I was going to remain silent on this forum....until the benevolent dictator found some doctored up Photoshop image that falsely accuses me of an unsafe act. I'd claim I was drunk, but then that's a whole other set of issues with the alleged pictorial evidence.

Nor was a single Barbie harmed. 18 rounds just didn't seem enough.

Also, the next time you see somebody in a movie riding a horse that shoots a rattlesnake while moving.......

It's complete BS and impossible.

For the record, since I had to ride away from my homestate of Washington where I do have a CWP, I rode with the piece in one sidebag, and the ammo in the other sidebag.

And much more disturbing is this cherry piece of incriminating evidence. Back at 'ya WC.

I am considering the GLOCK 22C, .40 compensated double action pistol for use in long solo trips, or for HOA meetings.

The one thing I have to figure out yet is how to carry it so that it can be used if needed.

- Horizontal shoulder strap (on the right)

- In the tank bag

- On the handle bar (next to GPS, Cruise control, MP3 player, XM radio, ash tray, etc.)

- Waist holster

- Up the sleeve

- Leg holster (Tactical)

- In the helmet

Some other considerations:

- It has to be accesible to the left hand, not to forfeit control of the throttle.

- It should be able to put it away as quickly as it can be drawn.

- It should be concealable

Any thoughts?
