As you may know, I had a Cam Chain Tensioner failure on the last Saturday in July, and the new one that was ordered from Mondak showed up on that Monday. Jeff Q has graciously donated his great mechanical skills to help me out. The CCT was replaced, but no joy. I then ordered a Cam Chain and needed seals/gaskets and Jeff is hoping to replace that this week.

Besides sacrificing a chicken to the bike and sprinkling body fluids on the front tire and engine valve cover, I have my fingers, toes, and eyes crossed that the head is fine and it will be back on the road by next weekend.

Thanx much Jeff as I'm so in a funk and anxiously stressed that my baby is sick and hope it's not terminal.

Thanks for listening,

Mike in Nawlins'

Ow...hopefully no top end damage to the bike? Was it running when it broke? Hopefully just bad timing issues and no damaged pistons, cylinder walls and valve train HW. Not to mention what could happen when pieces fall into the cam drive train.

On my knees and muttering.

Jeez, Mike ~ I somehow missed your post about the CCT failure!

Prayers that you aren't about to join Radio Howie in CCT hell... Here's hoping that you'll have good news to report soon :exhappysmiley:

Anxiously waiting for the good news!

i think killing the chicken over it best idea

thanx much gang...your prayers and kudos were very productive as they kept me from harming myself, others, or the dog !!!

Bike is fubared, but lotsa other bikes to consider to purchase in the next week...AIW (Angelic Italian Wifey), MIL, and even big bro agree (pretty much) that PGR and bike for me is like food to eat and air to breath...a necessity.

My IRA account is negative interest for months, so I'm pulling $7-10K out and buying a bike.

Choices are Peoria, IL '04 (gorgeous with low miles) fly and ride, our Houma '06 18k miles, or two '04's in Houston on craigslist.

Gonna get on the ball to make this happen before EOM for sure.

let's ride safe and be careful out there,

Well, I guess it's bad. When these sorts of things occur, there's usually no doubt in your military mind that something bad has happened. Big clunks, sharp metal breaking sounds, etc. Heard it once and KNEW the cleanup was going to be bad (piston exploded in a YZ 490). Hope you're back on two (powered) wheels soon Mike.

I have the stone circle put up, I have the mistletoe and flower garlands ready, but I cannot find a virgin to sacrifice anywhere.

So I cannot help much, but thinking good thoughts and here's hoping the bike is back real soon

Sorry Mike in Nawlins. But whatever year you buy, mount the horn INSIDE the frame this time, will ya? It's embarrassing seeing some farkles exposed. I'm just sayin'

Good luck with the new bike! :clapping:
