FODS IV, the fourth annual FJR Owners with Dual-sports (FODS) gathering.

When is it: Friday Oct 8th - Sun Oct 10th 2010.

Why is it: For those new to this rodeo, the founding father of this gathering was the late Andrew Knight (OrangevaleFJR). His insight provoked a few frenzied bike sales as well as a new reason to get together for riding, eating, drinking and BS’ing (in reverse order).

Many FJR Riders are also buying, or already have dual-sport bikes. The idea is for FJR owners, or anyone really, that also dual-sport to meet and ride together. If you want the full experience load up your camper, RV or stay in a cottage but day-trippers are always welcome. If you are new or getting reacquainted to dirt you won't be alone, there will be more experienced riders who will gladly guide you in the way of the dirt. If you are experienced, come share some tips with us newbie’s and receive free drinks from those you have enlightened.

This is open to all bikes, dirt bikes, quads, UTV’s and street bikes. Friends and relatives are all welcome.

Where is it: Updated! 2/28/10 I booked RV space #43. Cottages #3-5 would be the ones to book to keep the group in the same area.

Gas at it: Top off in Yerington, Wellington or Topaz there may even be gas in Smith Valley. Last time folks negotiated with those driving to bring extra which worked well. Bring a little extra if you can, the barter system will be in full effect.

Food/drink at it: Bring your own or arrange for someone to bring enough for you. Pooling the resources always seems to work or you can venture off for something at the resort bar, grocery or big stuff in Yerington or Topaz.

The rules for it (the park's):

Dirt bikes and ATV’s are not allowed to be ridden throughout the Resort property. (Store, bar, pool, beach, etc. are off limits.)

Dirt bikes and ATV’s may ONLY be ridden into or out of the Resort on the Main road.

Please limit your trips in or out.

Please travel slowly across the new pavement on Hudson Way. If possible, travel along side of the pavement on the dirt.

Do not rev engines and/or spin out. Be considerate.

Dirt bikes and ATV’s can only be ridden between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM. If you are planning a ride after ATV hours, please trailer your dirt bike or ATV out to BLM (.25 mile).

When traveling on the dirt side of Hudson Way, do not spin donuts etc. There is a $500.00 fine from Lyon County.

Stuff to do at it:

Dirt bike and ATV riding, sporting clays or lounge by the pool. Visit friends, tell lies, make others jealous because they could not attend. <img src="https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/devil.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" " border="0" alt="devil.gif" />

Ube,

That is the start of my busy season hence no trip to north of the border in Sept, but this sounds doable. Still looking for an early 80's Honda Z50 for a pit bike for the Mrs., but will bring the DRZ400 w/ pillion pegs just in case.

Wow this makes four events in September.

I have been to all the FODS rides and will hate to miss this one.

Its not looking good.

Oct would be way better for me.

Sounds like that may be the case for all concerned. Problem is the pool/spa close mid Sept and it may be a little chilly at night.

Would Oct 8-10 work better for everyone?

amazing

The chance to come to the Battle Born state gets the street *******' panties in a wad

Canada vs Battle Born state??

--Trust me going to Canada ain't nothing like coming to Nevada ....try drinking 24/7, shooting guns, gambling and all other fun up there, aint' gunna happen.

Count me in, I'll take Walker River over boring Canada anytime ...including this time.

Looking forward to it, thanks for setting this up.

THAT would be tempting.

Thanks for the updated dates. I'll see if the boss (wife) says there is money and the boss (woman at work) says there is time to go. If it gets chilly I'm sure RenoJohn can give me a lift in his car.

What are the rest of us, chopped liver? :glare:

:D :p
Of course not, my dear friend Shiny! Looking forward to seeing you also at FODS! We will have to help Old Michael spoon some Dunlop D606 knobbies onto his FJR!

I just might be able to make this.

Do I bring the KLR or the RZR?

That will depend on the wife.

If she can make it I will bring the RZR.

Joe
