Say it Ain't so..... 2013 Yamaha FJR1400

A quick blurb out of my July edition of Motorcyclist mag, they are saying there is information from Europe which suggests "the FJR might finally get upgraded this year, adapting technology from the YZF-R1 sport bike in a larger displacement, 1400cc engine. Crossplane engine technology-which locates each crankpin 90 degrees apart (as opposed to 180 degrees) to smooth out power delivery and enhance traction." Hey, I couldn't and didn't make this up. I want hope not hype. :yahoo:

Sounds like the 8th incarnation of unsubstantiated speculation from 2008 here. We'll reconsider its NEPRT status if substantiated by Yamaha or other more reputable source.

Hey man, don't shoot the messenger.lol It doesn't look like the other pic in the previous add. It's shown in full dress. I just thought the rendering looked more like an FJR than the other one.

Yeah, well the FJR certainly needs a power upgrade, it's such a slug.... :angry2:

Ha! Thought I'd been around the block but don't recall hearing this one until now. Then again, wouldn't surprise me if Yamaha did go to a 1400 engine. Like I really need another 100cc, much less 1600cc... 1800... whatever.

I'd rather have a 6th gear than 100 more cc.

I'd rather have factory cruise control, but can't we have all three?

If and when the my FJR dies out...I may look at an FZ-1. I want to go lighter...not heavier.

Some of us did just the opposite. But really, if the FZ1 had a longer fuel range, better wind protection...and most importantly, more electrical output, I'd likely have never gotten rid of it. But the Gen I could run an electric vest and beyond that, you'd be asking around for a jump start.

GACK! This is the upteenth thread on this hype so far this year. Motorcyclist runs the same article every year. It's been going on since a year after the Gen 2 was released.
