    Which tires....

The Pilot road 2's are great, I got only 3500 mi from the AVON storms, and about the same from metlers, so far I have 6000 mi on my Pilot 2's and they still have 2-4 thousand left. I ride hard and fast both solo and two up and the Pilot 2's are up to the quest. I regularly drag pegs both 1 up...

I moved to this crazy place and love it.....

When Texas is good it is very very good. When it's bad it's still pretty damn good.

    Zumo 550

The bar mount will work, I used it for a couple of weeks before my stem mount came. I did not like the bar mount, positioned it too high but it will work.

    CO Memorial Day Trip

There are thre of us "experienced riders" (old farts) from DFW going on a CO trip over the week of May 26th, we had a 4th but he had to drop out, looking for 1 (or3) more rider(s). I am on a 2005 FJR, the two other guys are on BMW's (one on an LT, the other on a GT). We will be leaving on the...

    Radar Detector Observations

Detectors or any other counter measures are not 100% but I will tell you from years of personal experience that my Escort 8500 works and has saved me numerous tickets. By both alerting me that there is a risk and keep it down until clear and by giving me enough time to nail the brakes before...

    Helmet of Choice

I wear the Scorpion EXO 700 and like it pretty well. Does get a little warm in the Texas heat but I think all do, hell, it's hot here in the summer without a helmet.

    Radar detector question

I use the H.A.R.D system from these guys https://www.legalspeeding.com/ The flashing LED in the helmet works great. Has saved me several tickets.

Advice on Setting Up Suspension With Penske 8987 Shock

I think you need to get the spring rate correct. Changing the link will lower the ride height but it won't change the static and dynamic sag. Just my opinion, and I am no suspension tuner.

    Moving to Dallas, TX

Actually there are some pretty good riding roads in North Texas. I have two groups that I ride with (sport bikes mostly), one tends to go north and east out around Wolf City and there are some nice, relatively twisty, low traffic Farm to Market roads out that way. The other group rides out of...

    Your favorite Scotch

Never met a single malt I didn't like. Can't afford most. Belvenie double wood is nice. Oban is excellent. Nothing wrong with Johnny Walker Black (can't stand the Red) or Chivas. For a daily drinking scotch try Grants, beats the heck out of regular Dewar's or Johnny Walker Red. The Dewar 12...

    Track Day

You may want to check with your insurance company and see if they will cover damage that happens at a race track. Not all policies do and I have seen bikes totaled in the beginner class.

    WIndshield for 5'10" rider

Try a Laminar Lip on your stock windshield. I have the Cal Sci tall but prefer the 2005 stocker with holes and the lip. I only use the Cal Sci when it's really cold. The lip pushes the air flow higher and really smooths out the buffeting. I am 6'2" with a 31" inseam...
