Remove your forks in 22 minutes

Got the forks back and re-installed this weekend. Wow. An amazing imrovement up front. Night and day difference. Of course now the rear end feels even worse than it did before, and I need to crank the front preload way down because Im in "chopper mode" now. lol. Still gonna be a few weeks till...

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

You definitely don't want to be running heavy fork oil in these forks in stock form. The damping holes in them are teeny tiny, and the oil simply cannot flow through them fast enough during high speed movements. It can also result in "hydraulic locking". For the rider, the feeling from the...

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

Mind letting us know a bit about the benefits of the RaceTech Gold Valvest procedure you mentioned? Cost, availability, etc. Thanks again The reason I'm having the RT valves installed is because the stock valving sucks. The stock spring rate is also far too low for such a big bike, so that's...

    Topcase Pictures?

Thanks for the link to the Shad boxes. Im curious how it mounts. Does anyone have pix of the mounting plate or whatever it is? Im emailing the company, but was hoping someone may have pix handy. For those who have the Shad, how is the quality of the case compared to Givi for example? Cheers!

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

I'd say $110 bucks is about right for shop time and new fork oil, Well ya...if that's what I was paying for it would be deal. But...The $110 was for the removal and reinstallation (R&R) of the forks in the bike. Nothing more than that. I saved $110 by bringing the forks over myself. yamahlr...

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

Thanks Warpdrv. :) Im having my suspension dude install the RaceTech Gold Valvest. He happens to be an FJR owner as well and I was fortunate enough to take his bike for a test ride to see how it felt. I think I'm going to ditch the 020's while I'm at it in favor of the Avons that everyone...

    Penske owners?

Anyone here have a Penske? I tried searching and came up empty. Im curious if you did the shock R&R yourself, and where did you end up mounting the remote resevoir?

Remove your forks in 22 minutes

Gonna have some fork work done and after hearing it was $110 to R&R the forks I decided to do it myself even though stuff like this usually ends up in me spending several hours. I happen to own an EazyRizer bike lift (had it for many years now) and decided to put it to use for...

    Throttlemeister install problem

Im in the SF Bay Area. Penninsula area. I've got a buddy who's very mechanically able (unlike me) and I'll have him give it a go if I can't figure it out tonight. Thanks!

    Throttlemeister install problem

Im am pretty certain they are the right ones. They don't slide in without some pretty good "help" from me. I tried again last night. This time I was able to tighten the left one down. I did it using a couple of spacers that were in the package (which the instructions never mentions) and it...

    Throttlemeister install problem

Yah, I already have a TR. Was mainly interested in just heavier bar ends for the FJR, figured the TM install would have been easy. Man was I ever wrong.

    Throttlemeister install problem

Well I @#$@ give up. Jeezus, this is beyond frustrating. If I could I'd reinstall the old ends I yanked out I would. No amount of cleaning has helped. The stupid @@#$ just spins and spins. And that's on the "easy" side, I haven't even attempted the throttle side. Anyone know of the stock ends...

    Throttlemeister install problem

Ok, I'll try the CC. I didn't use anything on the O rings to insert the adapters, but I guess I'll wipe em down anyway. I take it they will go into the bar when eveything is really dry? Just push hard? Thanks for the input.

    Throttlemeister install problem

Man..I thought it was clean in there.... So what do you recommend. Blasting contact cleaner in there? I guess I just don't follow how the whole thing works. How can those O rings hold the entire thing in place????? Do they expand or something?

    Throttlemeister install problem

Howdy FJR dudes. Newbie here. Got the adapters to install my existing TM bar ends onto my new FJR. Problem is, I cannot get it to work at all. I got the inserts removed with no problem, and then inserted the new adapters and the plastic thing on the throttle side. I have no idea what I am...
