    Engine intermittently dying while riding.

I had the same problem on my 07. It turned out to be a loose ring terminal ground on the right side of the steering head.

    Clutch cable squeak

S76.... the small bearing is a great idea. I don't want to hijack the thread but, I assume that you've changed your clutch slave cylinder to a 2005 model. For those that have not, it makes the lever pull much easier (at least on my 07) and it's an easy replacement.

    loving your fuel pump

I've run mine completely dry twice with no harm done. It will go about a mile after it starts to stumble. It will happen at about 254 miles of what I would call normal riding ( 70+ mph freeway and 40 to 50 mph on secondary roads). It will run out much sooner at higher speeds. An auxiliary tank...

what to bring for my first long road trip

+1 on Axemans connectors..cheap/ easy and work well. CO2 not the best alternative. If you don't have a good, complete tire kit...+1 on AAA card/cell phone. I don't mean to worry you, tire problems are not likely.

    Hooking Chatterbox up for Intercom

My system is like VTFJR13 except mounted on the left bar for changing channels on the fly. We use ptt also but I spliced in a simple two wire cable w/ a ptt switch that runs back and coils under the seat. When needed, my wife clips her small momentary switch to her jacket. Everything works well...

    Sidecase Lid Angle

I didn't realize that it was a problem, but the change in the angle is helpful. I just used my key to push the strap around the next post. Thanks, MC

    Saddle Bag Safety Pin

I installed the safety pins at the beginning (April 07). Locks eventually loosened up and were re-installed w/Loctite. The bags aren't going to be lost when pinned. It only takes a few seconds to remove them and nobody even notices them when in use. I see no downside...... +1

    CAL 24 Report

My fellow rider mike (ST 1300) and I went for big bonus points in Coalinga and on Los Gatos Rd. leaving us too far from Fremont to make the check. We did get within ten minutes of the absolute closing but would have ended up with minus points even if we had squeaked in under the wire. Maybe...
