New VS Used -and other bikes

+1. I don't go anywhere without my heated gear. Love it! And, around these parts there are only 3, or 4 months if you're really lucky, without frost. Couldn't do it without heated grips. I have never thought I needed a heated seat. The stock seat is rubbish. Weirdest thing, it actually made me...

New VS Used -and other bikes

'08's and later had ABS standard, I think? There is a matrix comparison in the new owner section, I don't think the link is working. If you could find a well cared older one that some one had done a decent Audiovox cruise install, you'd be giggling. I too, have struggled with justifying 7 or 8k...

New VS Used -and other bikes

Buy what makes you happy. IMHO, the 2013 FJR is a complete machine for what it is intended to do. I have yet to hear of a logical explanation as to why this bike, or any other sport-touring bike needs 6 gears.

I Figured Out What FJR Means

Bounce is right. I still read through the thread anyway.

    ignition disabler "chip key"

Interesting. So you're saying I can get the key code copied onto another device, even though it is not an actual key. I could then attach said device on the bike, hidden, somewhere near the ignition and I could use any old key that was cut to match the existing key? This might not be a bad...

    2013 FJR Availability-Canada

The dealers here got tons of bikes, they just all look like a Harley, or are a Harley. After all, it's what real bikers ride, right?

    ignition disabler "chip key"

I think anti-theft devices have been law in Canada since 2007. USA does not have this law. This is where you can run into problems importing a new bike from the states. Some vehicle inspectors in Canada might catch it, some might not.

My '08 was same. IIRC, the literature that came with the bags seemed to indicate that they may have been manufactured in Europe?

    Sargent seat report.........

I too, am happy with this seat. My thoughts are that it is comfortable enough for up to 12 hour days in the saddle. And it's not so restrictive, still allows some weight shifting in the twisties.

    Canada looses a musical icon.

Hello out there, we're on the air, it's Hockey night tonight. (Oilers at Detroit) He leaves quite a legacy and will be missed.

What did you do to your FJR today?

Fenda Extenda. Glued on with 2 part epoxy. The lower portion on my rad has some damage and I hope this mod will help prevent more from occurring.

    2013 FJR Availability-Canada

I hear you. I don't get it, but there seems to be a whole lot of cruisers sitting on the floors in dealers. I actually tried to trade in my '08 via email, twice. Apparently, motorcycles, particularly sporty type bikes, are worn out after 10k or so. Who knew.

Have to get in there in March. Guy at Argyll said they're not getting anymore. Sold the one they had at the bike show. Where did you pick yours up at?

    2013 FJR Availability-Canada

So I go to an Edmonton dealer the other day to check out the new FJR, because I haven't seen it in person yet, and they don't have one. The sales guy says there are only a couple left for all of Canada? Anybody else hear of this? What was Yamaha thinking?

Some guys around here actually use whale oil, if you can believe it.

    Trans-Canada Highway

Go this route through AB and BC. Longer but nicer ride IMHO. Also, gas not an issue.
