2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

However as has already been posted "that bike", a 500cc Vulcan with aux tank was used by another rider to finish the Iron Butt Rally in the past. Remember, all is not as it appears. ;)

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

Well my guy is as good as in the barn with 70 miles to go a few minutes ago. I can only assume he will go for some of the bonuses around Sacto as he did get 8 hours of shuteye last night outside Denver so today was an easy SS1K for him in to Rancho Cucamunga. ;)

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

I have one friend I am following who told me pre rally that he would be taking it easy and looking for a finish. He made a little dogleg to Mt. Pulaski, IL and I was wondering why. This is what I found. From Historical Marker database entry at (visit link) : Painted "marker" inscription: "The...

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

If it's still showing on Spotwalla with a 7-4 date then I'm pretty sure it's still working. IIRC Jason delays the public feed by a little bit to keep the actual location of the riders secure, plus the Spotwalla Server only pings the Spot server about every 15 minutes or so. I'm thinking the...

2013 Iron Butt Rally - The Inside View

I figured he would have to maintain an 80+ average to beat the penalty window. Oops!

2011 IBR - The Inside View

re: "wild" life tolls IIRC in the IB5K last year there were a deer, a moose (mean sob's when pissed off), a cow, and a black bear. That's all I recall though there may have been multiples of the forest rats. So, a mountain lion doesn't surprise me a bit.

2011 IBR - The Inside View

Thinking Victorville and Hesperia riders are even farther out. Can I presume the spots outside Amarillo and Albuquerque are out of the rally?

2011 IBR - The Inside View

I believe I saw on the news yesterday that it snowed at Tahoe on Wednesday. Of course I might be mistaken. I have slept, albeit badly, since then.

2011 IBR - The Inside View

Everything changes, and everything stays the same, especially the Metric Buttload of speculation by all the keyboard jockeys on this and other lists. I find it very entertaining, and enormously time consuming. Oh, and that guy on the 125 is carving his way through the pack north of Bloomington...

2011 IBR - The Inside View

And Bob Munden joins the pack. Bob riding a UCCC on a Honda 125 has caught up to the rally and is now ahead of several rally riders as he heads for Key West and completion of the smallest motorcycle to complete a UCCC quest. I believe he also completed an "Alaska Insanity" ride from Deadhorse...

2009 Iron Butt Rally - Official Daily Reports

Dale, et al...... Thanks for your work and efforts. One thing I learned when working Corners at the races was that first of all our responsibility was to take care of ourselves because if we weren't at 100% we were no good to the riders we were there to assist. Keep up the good work.

Have you ever seen an FJR do this?

There's no possible way an FJR can do this. Not enough weight up high....only a Connie could perform this incredible feat. ;)
