dct. vs AE Is it worth the new technolgy.

Yes, there is but with the wife's left ankle issue there wasn't any point in getting it. I also forgot to mention the grab for the phantom clutch lever when coming to a stop when riding the NC700. A lifetime of standard motorcycle riding creates some serious mental/ muscle memory. I have the...

dct. vs AE Is it worth the new technolgy.

I have a Honda NC700XD in my garage. This is the DCT version of the NC700 adventure style bike and was a perfect fit for my wife who had ankle surgery and is limited with her left ankle. There's no shift lever - only paddles on the left side switch cluster. It defaults to Auto, which puts you...

    What Is This Relay?

Pnkrkr4lif - I had the S7 fail on my 07 (non AE) and also corrosion on my fuel pump relay. I cleaned up the corroded contacts on the relay/connector and slathered some dielectric grease on before reassembling. Been working fine for many years now despite daily riding here in the Seattle area...

FJRF009.3 "Spider failures other than S4" Research

Another relatively rare S7 on a 2007 was reported by Pnkrkr4lif in this thread: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php/topic/173284-what-is-this-relay/?p=1381944

    Switched 12v near the handlebars?

For future reference, they make usb cigarette lighter plugs that sit flush when space is at a premium like our glovebox: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M6QODH2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Gen I compared to Gen III

I don't see anyone mention this, but if you're looking at 2016 or newer there's a couple huge benefits in my book. The LED lights, besides improvements in lighting, use less power and this is a plus if you're running a lot of heated gear and other accessories. And I absolutely love the idea of...

    Switched 12v near the handlebars?

Or it could be a blessing if you have Prey installed on your phone because you can then track the location of your bike. My wife loves to lose stuff, so I make sure Prey (free app) is on her phone so I can locate it when she forgets it somewhere. But back on topic; there's some nice low...

    AE air filter removal

He never came back to retrieve his stash, so I'm assuming he wasn't smart enough to not sample what he was stashing. :)

    AE air filter removal

Mouse stash in the filter is not an AE specific malady. Here's my 07 FJR filter a few years back: That's poisoned mouse bait in there. :)

    2016 Yamaha FJR1300 ES Factory Demo $12,990.00

Awfully tempting. My 07 only has 128,000 miles on it and still runs good, but the upgrades in a 2016 would be really nice to have. Although their $900 for freight/prep and $150 for doc fees artificially inflate the listed price considerably. :(

    2018 FJR Details Released

Interesting variation on the standard blue. I'm thinking it will still look good when dirty. ;) Reading through the specs, I see that they still suggest you can plug your electric vest into the glovebox outlet. I guess that's a good idea if you want to test your fuse. :) LOL

    2018 FJR release details?

Spy photo of new 2018 FJR1300 now online! Due to complaints about excess weight and soft paint, Yamaha has redesigned the FJR for 2018: https://home.earthlink.net/~haraldstenger/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/yamahapic.jpg :)

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like an awesome ride.

Rebuilding kits -Clutch reservouir & slave cylinder

Tying back the clutch lever would keep the fluid pressurized and theoretically force any air bubbles up to the master cylinder. I've had some luck doing it on brake lines, but have never tried the clutch line. The FJR first gear clunk is better on my 07 if I pull the clutch lever in AND THEN...

I guess I'm going to have a little more time for riding now.

Congrats Kevin. We've never met because I'm always too busy working. :) Like many others counting down the days on this thread, I'm nearing retirement and plan on pulling the plug in the first quarter of 2019. Just trying to decide whether getting 30 years in is important enough to wait a...

    Battery charging voltage

The problem is that the various connections and/or undersized wiring from the Regulator/Rectifier to the battery causes excessive voltage drop. The new harness from roadstercycle.com replaces all that with a solid run of wire and fixes the problem. You don't even need to remove the old wiring -...

Rebuilding kits -Clutch reservouir & slave cylinder

Hopefully that explains it. But if you still find it leaking later, read on: My slave on my high mileage 07 was confirmed leaking and because it's an odd seal, it's unlikely I could find one anywhere other than from Yamaha. And Yamaha doesn't sell just the seal. Searching on the forum yielded...

    Battery charging voltage

Did you check the charging voltage at the battery? If not, check there because there could be voltage drop in the line to your installed volt meter. Probably your issue is in the link that RossKean posted. My high mileage 07 also had deteriorating voltage at the battery that became a problem...

    FJR vs CanAm fully loaded

I'm licensed here in WA, but have never ridden a 3 wheeler. Gotta actually try it one day, although I don't see switching over unless physical limitations require it. After riding muliple 100's of thousands of miles on a traditional motocycle over the last 35+ years, I can't imagine giving up...

Onboard Computer AVG MPG quit working

You don't by chance have a Power Commander installed on that 07? If so, the reading will be useless because the PC intercepts the signal going to your injectors and adds or subtracts fuel based on the map in the PC. As far as the bike computer knows you are using the amount of fuel it is...
