    Power comander 5

All of this stuff is fine but if you don't get a base line dyno and sniff test on your particular bike before you modify it you will have no idea what your modifications gained and you have to use the same dyno for your test as all dynos will vary and so you can't go by someone else's stuff...

    Power comander 5

What kind of pin head would shell out $550.00 bucks for minus half a horse and more noise.......only one with half a brain! I'm beginning to think that the current crop of Japanese bikes have highly efficient exhaust systems and are diffulcult to improve upon other than lighter with more noise...

    Power comander 5

It seems from all the dyno test I've read the slip ons are worth about 3-4 horses regardless of who's they are and I haven't seen any A-B dyno test on the Power Commander stuff and all I got from the fella on the phone at Dyno Jet was all about the different number of maps available. I asked the...

    Cam Timing

This is great information and now I know why my 08 FJR runs like a tractor on the bottom end is done by 9000 rpm. Yamaha figures their event angles starting at the ramp of the lobe with zero lash and so the FJR's cam which has 260 degrees on both intake and exhaust the way Yamaha figures it...

    FJR Orientation Guide

This so called orientation guide is the only source I've been able to find that list the cam timing events which are an invaluble tuning aid. A fellow member sent them to me in a PDF format and I'm most grateful for his help.

    Cam Timing

Rod ratios are the last thing to worry about when it comes to tuning an engine as number one you can't easily alter it and number two it's not deemed as important as it once was but rod length/rod ratio has become shorter in today's racing engines. My old XS-1100 Yamaha Special had a rod ratio...

    ?'s about performance mods

The catalytic converters are in the rear portion of the pipe on the FJR or at least that is what Yammie told me when I bought my 08 model and if that is the case, I can't see how simply slipping on a set of sombody's slip on mufflers can help do anything much but make more noise. The cats in the...

    Cam Timing

Does anyone have the camshaft opening and closing figures/events for the cams in the FJR. The Yamaha shop manual has the figures for lift (.317) but no timing/event sequence. I called Yamaha in California and after being switched around to four different people finally winding up with a guy in...
