    Ken- heart attack

I'm glad he's making progress. My cousin, who is only 64, had a major heart attack in February. He supposedly was pretty much dead three times, but was brought back by the medical staff. The odd thing about his case is that he was the poster boy for excellent habits. No tobacco, no alcohol...

Yamaha--Stepping Up with New Features for LD Riders!

There'd be no envy. There would be curiosity. They'd wonder why you spent nearly as much as their HD cost, and had ended up with a Yamaha.

    "New" 2009 AE Questions

Be careful on this one. I was told that the warranties all started in 2012 when they auctioned the last ones to clean out the warehouse. No factory warranty is not new. Gerald at D&H was trying to sell a 2006 that was still in the crate in 2012, but I don't know if he's still got it. FWIW...

New Yamaha Touring Bike - Venture

I looked at the link. My sense is that they are going for the folks who are willing to plunk down $32k+ for an HD that's not as capable. There are a lot of folks in that basket, although not as many as there once were. I think they've miscalculated the value of the HD badge to the...

    I'm a physical wreck!

There's a reason people choose the Barco-Loungers on wheels. Tall windshield and RDL seat are the price of admission. But there's a lot to be said for the room for moving around that you get on something like a Rocket III Touring.

Very nice. It sounds like it was a wonderful celebration of her life. You are a lucky man indeed. Best, Glen

I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

I've owned 4 Rocket III Tourings since they came out in 2008. It's probably my all time favorite, most comfortable bike. I've had one warranty issue (on the 2008), but Triumph took care of it immediately and completely without any whining or waffling. As long as I can deal with an 875 pound...

I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

As an example, I bought four new motorcycles in the fourth quarter last year. I traded two for one on the first. I paid cash on the second and third, and I traded even one for one on the fourth. I could not resist the second and third. There were some big incentives and the bikes were both...

I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

We are not taxed on the trade value, so if I trade for $8k, it reduces my OTD cash outlay by about $8700. This does not impact the dealer. It just impacts how much is due to the state. I owe no tax on the trade value. This works for guitars, guns, stereo equipment, and other stuff too. The...

I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

I buy new and do not keep the bike after the warranty is over. So I typically have the kind of bike you say you want to buy. But even with under 15k on the clock, many can't afford to buy without a loan. You ask $9k for a three year old bike with msrp of $18k, and all the "schmaaart money" ties...

I will NEVER buy a new FJR again

I find it very hard to argue that Yamaha is "dumping." There aren't enough FJRs built in any given year to characterize the US allotment as dumping. The problem is that there is no demand. Americans want Adventure bikes and Umerkan V-Twins. The market sets the price for leftovers and used...

Garmin Map Updating - Does it suck or is it me?

You are probably using advanced features that I don't use, like maybe customizing routes, or playing music. I mostly just turn mine on for the traffic info these days. I don't have to load or erase anything. I did the 65 and the 2555 the other day. The 2555 took about 4 hours. The 65 took...

Garmin Map Updating - Does it suck or is it me?

Push the card with your finger nail and let it pop out of the slot. Remove it and install a 32 gb card by just pressing it into the slot until it seats. The installer will take care of the rest automatically. The presence of the card does not perceptibly slow things down in my experience. You...

    Nicky Hayden Dead

I've never seen another at his level with such a strong work ethic and with such a humble and loving spirit. God speed Nicky.

Yamaha--Stepping Up with New Features for LD Riders!

I think Honda lost a bet with Yamaha, and the announcement will be that the Goldwing is being rebadged as a Star.

    Toll Road payments advise please.

Not gonna argue with Fred. We have no income tax. I pay $2000 a year on 2 acres with 3 buildings and over 5000 square feet. The roads are paid for by gas taxes. That's how our road budgets are funded. So all those cars driving the 500 miles from Memphis to Bristol make their contribution. My...

No toll roads in TN. So we're EZer Pass.
