    Trashed Paint on New '06???

Coulda been a lot worse for all the scratched-in-crate owners. Some moron could maybe mighta pulled up to a stop sign and FALLEN OVER with the brand new bike, putting DEEP SCRATCHES down the right side. Of the bike. With his wife on the back. Into gravel. With 500 miles on the bike. Some...

    Insurance: Good Grief!

I'm not an insurance expert, but unless you have no assets of any kind, I'd say your liability limits are way too low. A your-fault wreck could easily run gazillions in bodily injury. As I understand it, PIP is essentially medical insurance for you. If you have insurance, why do you need PIP...

    Insurance: Good Grief!

I've had Progressive insurance for years on my Goldwing. Added the FJR, the annual premium, which included only comp, collision, and liability (none of that PIP, uninsured motorist, etc) was about $780 per year. Called Dairyland this afternoon, got a quote for same coverage EXCEPT LOWER...

    Autcom Pro AVI Intercom evaluation

I'll give this a shot: get some earphones, either deluxe or cheap, and power the XM through the bike's power system...either hard wired or use the aux plug. Plug the earhphones directly into the XM. Use the money saved on the intercom system to buy an ipod, and load all your music into it...

    Damn my 06 got damaged.

Yamaha doesn't have the 06 paint code yet...they THINK they do, but it's for another year or model. Color-Rite should have a code sometime in the next week. Don't ask me how I know... :blushing:

    Autcom Pro AVI Intercom evaluation

Fred, maybe you can answer an Autocom question. On the Goldwing, we can adjust bass and treble. We're using the Active 7 Smart system on it...and the music sounds fine. With the new Active Plus system on the FJR, we have no tone controls, and my wife complains of tinny, "no bass" sound...I...

    Suspension adjustment help

Two clicks softer than the manual's standard on everything, one "ring" softer on the front preload, and my wife's happy as a clam behind me, now. Actually, I'm happier, too. Although I know a lot of FJR owners buy the bike to ride fast and hard, I was actually looking for a luxury sport...

    '06 Sliders from Motovation

I happen to live in the same city as Roland, of Motovation (Austin). I stopped by and bought a set of sliders from him yesterday. The bolt right on, no cut, no nothing, very robust. VERY nice guy, has a neat little business with all sorts of sliders, bar ends, rearsets, etc. Some parts are...

    Suspension adjustment help

Thanks, Rick, that's a very helpful set of articles. If I understood it correctly, plushness, which is the direction I want to go, is pretty simple: less preload, less damping, less compression; I guess it's just going to be trial and error.

    Suspension adjustment help

Thanks, yes, I realize the preload is a groove, not a clicker deal, and yes, I understand that I should move it one way or the other for stiffer/harder...my question is, once I've adjusted the preload, what, if anything, should I do to adjust the rebound damping and compression damping, to...

    Suspension adjustment help

The front forks have three adjusters, the rear shock has one. I'm wanting to soften the suspension (yeah, yeah, save it), and am wondering what adjustments should be made to the rest of the suspension if I turn the fork spring preload adjusterd "softer" say, two "clicks", what, if anything...

Ok ...I need some deep cleaning advice!

Watch that Simple Green. In full strength, it will strip paint. In fact, I use it as a relatively benign paint stripper.
