    Motofizz seat bag mounting

Okay, since I Know everyone has been dying for an update, here's what's happening with my discount MotoFizz bag that was missing a mounting strap. I ordered a buckle and 1" nylon strapping from a cool place in Missouri: clicky! Edit: whoops, guess I already clicky'd them earlier. Also got a...

    2005 FJR & rider down

Nahhh, it's no secret that I'm here in Bham, I just don't get to do many group rides because I am on call over 50% of the time 24x7. I am required to stay more or less within 30 minutes from home or work when on call and certainly within paging/cell range. I am also a divorced Dad of 2 young...

    2005 FJR & rider down

Well, I was able to get out of bed this morning, so far so good. Thanks for the thoughtful posts, gives me more ideas to consider. I have taken the ERC class, although it was 3 years ago on a KLR650. Maybe I should take it again with this bike. What bugs me about the whole thing is that I had...

    2005 FJR & rider down

Thanks everyone for the kind words. No, I don't have pics yet, but I'll post some after I can stand to look at it for more than a few seconds. It doesn't look all that bad to me at first, my right moko with a skyway slider took most of the impact, moko bracket broken. Right mirror broken off...

    2005 FJR & rider down

Maybe someone should start a "crash discussion" section...move this thread right on over there. Me and my '05 FJR had a collision with a guy driving a big Ford pickup today that pulled directly into my path at point-blank range from a gas station, I was doing maybe 30 in fairly heavy commuting...

    Touring Trunk Lock

You will need a "security torx" bit for your driver. Sears has a whole kit of security bits(torx, hex, and other types) and a driver handle for about $20, IIRC.

    Don't speed in foreign lands

How about a nitrous bottle instead? :evilsmiley03: I would probably use that more than a fire extiguisher, I hope!

2006 Geelong Carbon Craft Tank Protector system

Be *very* careful applying these pieces. The glue is extremely sticky, and if you have to pull the piece to reposition it, do NOT flex the carbon fiber piece at all. If you flex the piece, you can crack the clear material covering the carbon fiber, first at the edges, then towards the middle or...

Thanks, Toe - a moving story and a reminder to cherish the things our heroes sacrificed their lives for.

    Kickstand Mishap

I'll buy you that drink if we ever meet :drinks: But I need one too, to tell my story: mine was down before I even stopped the first time. Uhhh, not a kickstand failure, though. :ermm:

    Motofizz seat bag mounting

Hey, all - thanks for the tips, tricks, and pics! I'll be sorting it out this weekend, trying to figure out which straps, buckles, ratchets I need to get for the perfect mount. I found this source for delrin buckles, nylon straps, zippers and the like that I may use(no affiliation yet). Lots of...

    Front reflectors

Hi, Stef - Franco's reflectors went out today first-class mail to the stateside address you sent. Should be there in a couple of days. Sorry it took me a while to get 'em out! Pat.

    Aftermarket short windscreen

I was thinking about getting a shorty screen for the summer. The three I have seen readily available are the concave and convex short screens by CeeBailey's: and a short screen from Givi: Anyone still use the original size stock windscreen from 2003? Those with shorty windscreens and...

Gear Drive Oil for $32 a pint?

This doesn't really justify the cost, but I read somewhere that the FJR gear oil has a different p/n than the "regular" Yammy stuff because the regular stuff foamed up in the differential (under high-speed autobahn jaunts) and the "special" stuff has anti-foaming ingredients...FWIW

    Motofizz seat bag mounting

I recently got a good deal on a medium MotoFizz "camping seat bag" because it was missing one of the four mounting straps. I am rounding up the hardware to replace the missing strap, and I wondered about other's set up. Did you mount on the passenger seat or rack? If rack, factory or...

Alabama's hidden secret Little River Canyon

I've been up there a couple of times, but never tried to take the road you had problems with. I'll keep your warning in mind the next time I'm up that way. Oh, great pictures, btw. Little River Canyon is a great destination, but I recommend going during the week if you want to take the curves...

    Front reflectors

Stef, I'll PM you my email address and you can send me the shipping address. I was able to locate both brackets and both reflectors, but only one of the nuts so far*. I'll poke around some this weekend and try to locate it as well, I'm sure it's around somewhere. <edit> * I located the...
