    Lunch at Big Bear

You are correct by far. This will show my age, but I haven't had much need to travel that way since the early 80's going to the 29 Palms USMC base. Hence, no need to study maps to try a better route. I wasn't aware that the 210 went all the way to Redlands. Duh! Your 'updated' route is far...

    Lunch at Big Bear

I'm in the SFV also, 101 at Fallbrook. We (2-up) can meet you at or near your location. I usually go 101-134-210-57-10. I also go early enough to gas up before arriving at the Starbucks. Last year there were groups that went to get gas during and also others after Slappy's pre-ride talk. I...

    Lunch at Big Bear

Last year's Big Bear ride was on August 23, 2008. It should be a bit cooler this year when we take over the patio area again of the Old Country Inn. Great job last year, Slappy. We are looking forward to another great ride.

    Lunch at Big Bear

Slappy, Kitty and I would like to do this ride again. We will meet you all in Redlands on Saturday, October 17 @ 0845-0900hrs. George R. FJR #2: '09 FJR1300AE Edit: To keep the bike and people count correct, Kitty always rides as a passenger, never on her own bike.

    Soltek Hand Switch

Are you referring to this thread? Within Technical Discussions, there is a "Flash to pass" thread that was started January 22, 2009. Post #10 by Brodie talks about mating a Kawasaki Concours switch pod, which includes the flash-to-pass switch, with the FJR switch housing. Kawasaki switch...

    Soltek Hand Switch

I put this exact rocker switch in the same location on my '08 FJR for my Baja Designs Soltek Fuegos. I never had an issue with water causing a problem. If you want extra protection, I do have many cover boots made for that switch if you would like some. The boots are clear plastic with a...

Ordered set of FZ1 mirrors / Mondak Motorsports

I had to Dremel mine down too for a perfect fit. As I already posted, I paid for a set of Skyway spacers but received some useless screws instead. UPDATE 7/18/09: Skyway made good on his shipping mistake and sent the mirror spacers. A little after the fact, but at least he came through.

Ordered set of FZ1 mirrors / Mondak Motorsports

For my '08, I installed Skyway's Soltek light mounts along with FZ1 mirrors. The mount kit came with the four necessary flanged mirror spacers. The spacers worked perfect. Now I'm working on a '09 and wish to add only the FZ1 mirrors. I ordered and paid for a set of four FZ1 to Gen2 FJR...

Recommendations for local shops that repair / paint FJR tupperware?

Sounds like your tires are working against you. I had the same symptoms as you describe with my stock tires. What tires are on your bike? I am extremely happy with Michelin Pilot Road 2s on my FJR. The handling with the PR2s is as different as night & day. Give them a try.

Recommendations for local shops that repair / paint FJR tupperware?

Rick, What year and price range are you looking for in a used FJR? It sounds like you're looking for a project. Why not another Honda ST. Your last one was nice. I'm on the fence on whether I should sell my '08 FJR. I don't really use it anymore. It's been a while since I've ridden with...

    Question for PHID owners

My Baja Designs Soltek Fuegos do make a mild high-pitch sound until they warm up. But this is only noticeable if I turn them on without the engine running. If my bike is running, even at idle, I can't hear it. My experience with installing a set of PHID's on another bike showed that the PHIDs...

Any So California riders out there

I have my bike mildly apart at the moment. I'm getting it ready for a long trip up north. Usually I get together with the CalCoastRiders.com group. All sorts of bikes & riders, but more FJRs than anything else. Most rides start at the meeting place in Ventura, but some rides have a meeting...

    Looking for a RAM ball-cheap

Careful, the link you posted is to a ram ball with the incorrect thread. The FJR left handlebar "mirror hole" is a M10x1.25. The correct ram ball is RAM-B-349U, as Terrebandit already posted.

    Kolbe Cycle Sales SoCal Closed!

First bike I bought from them was a Honda 350 twin. I can't remember the year. Then many bikes followed after that. Friday, December 19, I spoke with Kevin Dunning, the former sales manager at Kolbe Cycle Sales. Who knows how much of this is true, but he told me that some old bat in the...

Anyone in southern California have a rider seat they're not using?

It's good to know that there are other generous people on this forum. I sent 'Potential' my seat via UPS on Monday. I'm curious to learn how the Spencerized seat works out. I'm sure it will be better than the Yamaha Comfort Seat I purchased.

Anyone in southern California have a rider seat they're not using?

You are welcome to use my stock '08 seat. I live in West Hills, 91307. It would be about a three hour drive from San Diego for you, but you are welcome to come get it. PM if interested and I'll give you directions & phone #. George

    Auxiliary Cell Design

Like others who have posted before me, this is a very interesting topic. It's wonderful to read the physics & theories from the intelligent members on this forum. I always ride two-up, so a fuel cell in the passenger area won't work for me. Thinking aloud, has anyone ever seen or known anyone...
