I can understand how the ABS would get front and rear wheel speeds, but how does it get chassis speed? John

    SS1000 Statute of Limitations

A friend and I did a SS1000 in June 2006. We started in Longmont, CO, went north on I25, I90, and I94 to Laurel, MT. When we got to Laurel, the plan was to stop, rest, have a meal. But there was a nasty black thunderstorm to the west, and the rain was just starting to fall. So we got gas and...

    Technical manual

You are absolutely correct about the worlds twisted response, engineers probably have the most realistic view of the world. ;) To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass is half empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be. John

    Technical manual

I agree 100% about your reasons not to trust a mechanic. I have been burned too many times. If someone is going to screw it up, it might as well be me. :( I don't have the manual yet, but I have never seen one for a car or a bike that contained the nitty gritty details about routine...

A perfect name for the FJR??

Oh my god, that's absolutely disgusting. :dribble:

    NAFO Dates Set!

OK, I'll bite. My wife and I (and our 2 FJR's) are Tentatively planning to attend. By the way, where will this event be held? :D John

    Technical manual

Some people like myself enjoy the mechanical aspects of the machine as much as riding it. I thoroughly enjoy digging into the bike to see what makes it tick. It is almost as much fun as leaning it over through the twisties. But then I have a degree in mechanical engineering which they warned...

    '08 Delivery Dates

This thread sounds like it comes from the department of mis-information information. I think I'm confused. John

    NAFO Dates Set!

I was poking around on the member map today. Has anyone noticed that there is a green bubble named NAFO with a location of Tentative, CO. It looks to me like it is located between Winter Park and Fraser. Do I win a 2008 FJR? :yahoo:

    NAFO Dates Set!

After rethinking this, you are right of course. Leadville is a bit too far up there. So I got out the maps again and I drew an 80 mile circle centered at Denver. First we can eliminate everything to the east, because it is mostly at a lower elevation than 5280', and who would hold a gathering...

    MOST EXPENSIVE BULB EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, a Bulb, a Busa, and a Blonde. Some people just know how to live. :yahoo: Congratulations, John

    braking distance

I don't know anything about the numbers, but I am very impressed by the FJR's brakes. I got to test them this past Sunday. I was coming down South St Vrain canyon from the Peak to Peak highway. In one of the few passing areas I came upon a line of three cars and quickly passed them coming up...

    NAFO Dates Set!

I hope they finished the construction this summer, but I'm not sure. We only went over Trail Ridge a couple of times this summer, and we managed to miss the delays. I'm not certain about the lodging situation in Leadville. TWN might have found a resort/ranch in the area. I do know that it is...

    We Lost a Friend

Being a new member to this group, I never had the opportunity to meet Andrew. But, I did have the pleasure of reading some of his postings. I was inspired the first time that I saw his avatar photo, then later I found a larger version of it, and I added it to my collection of pictures. Being...

    NAFO Dates Set!

I've got it now, it's got to be Leadville. At 10430 ft it's definitely higher than Denver. Just thinking about it will get your engine surging. It's roughly 75 miles from Denver as the crow flies, but about 100 as the crow rides an FJR. This is high country like no other place, Leadville...

    NAFO Dates Set!

My money is on Estes Park, the gateway to Rocky Mt NP. From there we can ride over Trail Ridge road, the highest continuous paved road in the US at 12183 ft. It's a great ride when there is not too much traffic. John

I thought I had read here somewhere that dog piles were reserved for Fridays. :assassin: As an FNG on this site, I gotta say that I really appreciate all of the information that this forum contains. I have been absorbing it for the last couple of months. So far, I have found the answers...

    Tokyo Motor Show - 2007

Thanks for the great pictures. I wish there was a motorcycle show near me. Denver lost it's show a few years ago, and even when it was here it didn't have the cute girls. John

    First ride.

Eagle, where did you ride? We have it pretty good in Colorado, I went skiing on Saturday, and riding on Sunday. What a great state. John

    NAFO Dates Set!

Other than ownership of an FJR, what does one need to do in order to be a NAFO member? I think my wife and I should attend, since it looks like this event is going to be in our back yard. If you need assistance from a local, let me know if I can help. John
