Yuasa YT14B-BS battery - does not fit

The dimensions are close enough; the only dimension that is causing a problem is not listed: the distance from the right side to the top indent. On the new battery it is 3/16" more than the OEM.

Yuasa YT14B-BS battery - does not fit

If it is not Yuasa then it is a very good counterfeit. Box and battery say Yuasa and the right number. Bought it from Powersport Superstore in TX. See: https://www.powersportsuperstore.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=yuasa+yt14b-bs&Search.x=0&Search.y=0 Maybe Yuasa had some temporary production...

Yuasa YT14B-BS battery - does not fit

This battery is listed by Yuasa as fitting 2003-12 FJR1300. It did not fit my 2006. It is too short, plus the top niche is too far from the right side. Relieving the opening on the top retainer plate was not enough to get it to fit. It is now held in with a cable tie. Ken C

    Comagination D115H4 Headlight modulator

I installed mine in 2006 and it failed without any warning in June 2014. I had it on the high beams and both simply stopped working. I emailed the company for some troubleshooting help but it never responded. I was surprised by the failure because by federal law these modulators have to fail in...

    Starcom1 Advanced

Hi. SRI for the delay in reponding. No. My tank bag is a 25-year-old Eclipse strap on. No magnets anywhere, AFAIK. Since the unit is still in my tank bag, all the wires do run close to my tank. I have the GMRS radio clipped onto the tank bag opposite the pocket where the Starcom1 sits --...

    cleaning windshield

Scratching is one problem; solvent damage is another. The wet towel is a good way to soften the splatter. Gentle soap and water can do the rest. 50-50 white vinegar is good for cutting grease and I use it to clean all my polycarbonate shields. Stay away from ammonia, Windex and strong...

    Starcom1 Advanced

I have been struggling with a Starcom1 for two years. Jeff was cooperative for a few months, but stopped responding when the problems persisted. My issues with the product: 1. The full-helmet mics seem to fail over time. I suspect condensation from breath. You get a year, approximately...

    Overloading the FJR

Hi. How do you secure those duffels on top of the saddle bags?? Ken C

    Tie down points

When I saw your post I thought the Bungee Buddy was the solution to my problem: two-up camping (with maybe some fishing) on my 2006 FJR. I have the Givi V46 with luggage rack. I want to add three bright yellow dry bags (call them "duffels") to the bike, mainly for storage but also to increase...

    Long Island (NY) riders?

Hmmm. One trip we were thiking about was an an Orient - ferry - Freeport - Prince Edward Island - ferry - Cabot Trail - Yarmouth - ferry - Mystic - New London - ferry - Orient kind of a trip. Modest motels all the way, except the Freeport Inn was recommended. We could be arm twisted into...

    Tripmeters on '06

When doing a rally, I want to reset Tripmeter 1 at every leg. Tripmeter 2 keeps total elapsed mileage. It would be nice if I could reset Tripmeter 1 without every time cycling to Tripmeter 2, Odometer, Tripmeter 1, hold-for-reset -- which is what the manual says to do and which works but...

    Backoff

I installed the wig-wag version. You need to open a loom under the seat with a blade to find the wires, then cut them and splice in the unit. Same at the brake lamps, where things are a little tight. I did it with crimp-on connectors so I could just bypass the unit if it failed. This takes a...

    Vstream Windshield for the 06

I installed the new '06-'07 VStream on my '06 FJR and did 150 mixed miles, averaging around 55 MPH. This windshield exceeded my expectations. I am tall: Height: 6'5" Inseam: 36" eat: raised position With the windshield in the highest position, I still see easily over the top. Could even...

    Motion Pro Econo Carb Tuner.

    >I purchased the Motion Pro Deluxe for $88.00 at California Sport Touring. Do you need the 6mm Yamaha adapter kit for the FJR? It costs $15. Ken C

    Starcom and handheld cb

I am having a similar problem. First, try your radio completely away from the bike to make sure that it is not malfunctioning. Next, try a test running the radio on a separate battery and move the antenna away from the Starcom1 and the bike's wiring. Also, try lower transmission power. I...

    Louder Horn any recomendations?

I ordered up a pair of Fiamm Blasters from Harbor Freight at $10 per: https://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=44760 The ad says they draw 5 amps apiece. While a beefier harness will certainly help, 5 amps will not melt 20 ga. wire. However, the voltage drop will be...

    06 V-stream update

Last week National Cycle, responding to my email, said testing was delayed due to late delivery of an '06 FJR. They are expecting to release the V-Stream for the '06 FJR in September. Dunno if early or late. Ken C

    ABS -- front lever pulsing

'06A FJR, 2K miles. On dry concrete, I for the first time felt the brake lever pulse on hard braking. I was IMHO nowhere near a skid. No pulse at the pedal, tho. Happened two times in a row. Is my ABS malfunctioning? What is the significance of which control pulses (lever vs. pedal)? Ken C

    From ZX-11 to FJR

I moved from a '93 ZX-11 to an '06 FJR1300A. I very much like the touring amenities on the FJR. However, do not expect an improvement in performance, smoothness or reliability; the ZX-11 is IMHO very close to perfect in those departments. I find the FJR's suspension to be a bit softer, but the...
