    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

Didn't think to ask him that question. But, based on the way we talked about it, I'd suggest "Yamaha FJR1300 Ground Failure". The "spider" thing is not official nomenclature. Dan

The Universe has done me a solid!

Yes, the Dunkin next to the Irving and across from Wendys. The one you can't turn left out of. We will, of course, wind up looking like a bunch of doofuses on our way to Laconia.

The Universe has done me a solid!

Alan is right, that's the Exit 10 off I93. Get off the highway and head north on Front St/River Rd (name change right there). You're certainly welcome. I'll be there, as long as it isn't pouring rain. Haven't heard back from MARFJR yet. I do have my cut down windshield on. Dan

    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

The NHTSA investigator looked at my bike yesterday. He is currently in a fact finding mode and would appreciate hearing directly from you if you have experienced either or both of the following: 1. An actual on the road failure where, without warning, all power is lost and the fault is...

The Universe has done me a solid!

Saturday would be fine - maybe about 11AM. I can meet you at Dunkin's (I assume you mean the one on River Road just north of Exit 10) or you can swing by my house, which is about 5 min from there. Let me know what you'd like to do and I'll PM you my address. Dan

The Universe has done me a solid!

I have a windshield that's cut way down. At this time of the year, it provides the most cooloing breeze and has no buffeting. It's also quieter than the stock or the Large Calsci. I'll be putting it on in the next 24 hours and you're welcome to take a look at it. Dan

    FJRF009.0: Ground Spider Research

I just received a call from the DOT NHTSA investigator. He made an appointment to come and see my bike next week. I'll post a follow up after he has a look at it. Dan

    ABS Light came on.

As a guess, it's possible you spun the rear wheel just enough to turn on the light. It's one of the things that can set off the ABS sensor. Even hitting a little bump under hard acceleration might cause a momentary loss of rear traction - might not have even been noticeable. Dan

    Metzler RoadTec Interact Z8

It appears, from the pictures on the Metzler site, that there are overlapping tread grooves across the center of the tire and out to the edges. Dan

    Turn Signal Relay Going Bad?

Generally, I agree with you about it typically being a grounding issue. However, my bike has a brand new Yamaha harness attached to a brand new Brodie harness and a battery that is about 8 months old and checks out as excellent. When I check it out with ignition on and engine not running it...

    Turn Signal Relay Going Bad?

Your post doesn't specify "engine running" so that's the way I checked mine - key on, engine not running. It does what you are describing. I assume it has something to do with power draw. FWIW, I think relays either work or don't work, they don't degrade. Hope that helps. Dan

    Fork Oil Weight

Stuff I used says "Bel-Ray High Performancer Fork Oil 5W". I don't see HVI on the label anywhere and the back label says it is for use in all types of forks. It could be that you have something else. You might want to check the Bel-Ray site again. Dan Edit: The Bel-Ray site says the HVI is...

    Passing rednecks in the country

Normally, I would be with AAsland on this. I believe in the DOD they call it "Proportional Response". However, I went out Sunday morning for a few hours. During that time, I had four separate car drivers take shots at me - of one kind or another. Finally, one got me in Henniker, NH and I...

03 with 1.0 front srpings - Feels heavy turning

Tried it on soft, since raising forks? Only takes about two seconds to move the lever. It's about the cheapest and quickest thing you can try. Doesn't sound like it'll help, but who knows. Dan

03 with 1.0 front srpings - Feels heavy turning

Just as an experiment, try setting the rear preload to soft and see what that does to the balance of the bike. Dan

    Side Case split apart?

In the American automotive industry, we would say those cases were assembled on a Friday afternoon. Dan

Throttle body sync jumping all over

Did exactly the same thing with my Carbtune. That's why I asked. Dan

Throttle body sync jumping all over

Does it, perhaps, require restrictors in the vacuum tubes, that are not there? Check your manual. Dan
