    I need new summer gloves

Cortech GX Air https://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/37/51375/ITEM/Cortech-GX-Air-3-Gloves.aspx?WT.ac=RichAutoComplete I still like them best. Not a lot of protection compared to heavier gloves, but you will actually wear them. I highly recommend three pair for summer travel; one to wear...

    High Mileage Failures ?

How can someone claim to be opposed to technology and machinery, yet put 300k miles on FJRs??? The FJR is a fine piece of machine technology. Contradictory is he! (in Yoda voice). Back to the OP topic... My experience more-or-less in this order: 1. Cam Chain Tensioner. 2. Battery 3. Things...

    EOM 2012

Last summer I coaxed Lee into exploring a "road" leading off the BRP parking lot at Craggy Gardens. It turned out to be one of the original construction acess roads used for materials transport 60+ years ago. The only other motor vehicle we saw was the blade grader that had made its own parking...

    EOM 2012

A few notes on routes as they currently stand... * Lee's 525 challenge is being whittled down a tiny bit closer to 500. * We are working on two(2) twisty routes in the 200-mile range. * One scenic/2-up route that includes the best stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway (Asheville to Cherokee). *...

    Greensboro, NC area Tech Day?

Just now checking in the forum and seeing this. I will make this event if possible. Too early to know for certain. But if I can make it, I'll bring lots of tools, misguided expertise and bad advice.

    pirelli tires

You can match the Pirelli Angel front to a Dunlop Roadsmart(-II) rear for a better mileage balance front-to-rear on the FJR. Even though as stated above, the Angel isn't quite the tire its predecessor Strada represented, the Angel is still one of the best front tires available for the FJR. The...

    Smoky Mountains

Everyone should do The Dragon once in their life, but set your dreams much higher. There are hundreds of roads in the area with less traffic, less risk from others, and equal twisties. Do yourself a favor when you plan a visit, and plan to adopt a local for guidance. :)

    NERDS 2012 Tech-Day

Opening up an engine far enough to do a valve check is always a bit risky just before a planned ride. Lots of people do it and get by with it. But stop and think about if YOU want to be the one guy who doesn't get to ride because he's sitting around waiting on parts. :( You should always have...

Sidi On Road Boots - Size 9.5

I'll take second dibs if the first buyer backs out. :)

    fuel injector

The loose injectors I had in mind are from an '03 and carry a different part number. OP may still be looking for single used injector as a spare. I prefer to leave my spare throttle body intact if OP's repairs are successful.

    fuel injector

Grumpy used CruzinPerformance for injector service and matching. https://www.cruzinperformance.com/ He was able to gather a set of four(4) that were within 1% of each other.

    fuel injector

I have injectors on my used 2007 throttle body. May also have a lead on some extra injectors. Let me check. Email me at haulinashe at gmail dot com to discuss details.

    Ohlin YA053 Rear Shock?

You should be able to purchase a brand new Ohlins YA-036 in the $750 range. I would spend the extra money for the adjustments and features.

Fork bushings, omit the mid bushing?

I totally disagree with omitting the bushing. Personally I would be SOOOOOoooo pissed off if someone made that type of change to my bike without prior discussion and approval by me, the OWNER! If you don't run the third bushing, then IMO, you need to add a fork brace. That bushing is the main...

    race tech springs...again!

Yes, No. Yes - The OEM spacer. No - not between the fork caps and nut. Between the nut and OEM flat washer that sits atop the fork spring.

    How old were you?

I do think it's worth stating that road & traffic conditions today are nowhere near what they were when I started riding street in 1976. Motorcycles are much better machines, but surrounding traffic is exponentially more dense, and more stupid. I think the skillset required to simply stay alive...

    How old were you?

I started riding motorcycles solo at age-3. Would not let them take the training wheels off my bicycle because it scared me. My father bought a used BMW R60/5 with a wrecked Lufmeister full fairing. I rebuilt the fairing and he and I shared that bike for many years. The BMW was my first street...

    Bikey no idle....STILL

I actually had a local Yami mechanic threaten me because I gave him a less than stellar review with Yamaha's survey. (Your responses are not confidential with Yami.) Today's bike mechanics cannot spend the Internet time researching problems that owners can. They would starve. A really good...

    Fork overhaul

If you want/need to find a shipping case locally, WalMart also carries this one that many people use. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Plano-Protector-Pro-Max-Pillared-Gun-Case/4303558?findingMethod=rr
