as of some yrs ago, this was correct. It's well off the beaten path so probably unchanged, imo. From yrs ago, my 1st hand info is outdated (so what), I'd remember an FJR could do it. No major hills or declines that I recall. I would have come in from Burley, ID direction.

local dealership = support. in 3 months any few $ you'd have saved by extensive shopping means naught: travel distance avoided and times wasted. go for it. Road trip calling ...

Hey, listen up. I've been trumped!

I change oil / filter on side stand and check level stood up level on both tires. Since spec calls for center stand, this means I've been overfilling it for a good 60,000 miles. So, does it matter? No.

I have a Gen 1, 60,000+ miles worth of riding it. If I lived in Phoenix I'd buy a Gen 2. I imagine, with little research and trial and error and insulation stuffed in, you could make a big improvement in the heat management on the Gen 1's, but why bother. Also some say gen 2 stock...

Pleased with Avon Storm 2's for the last 700 miles. Used earlier version Avons for 45,000. All my riding is on blacktop, frequently chip seal resurfaced. I understand there are concrete roads somewhere ... else. Thru end of June there's a $25/tire rebate - go to Avon Tire website.

I used just half the number of pads when I replaced my '04 gen 1 brakes last year (or was it prior yr?). Returned the unopened set of pads to dealer parts counter (with raised eyebrows noted). One new pad and one old pad per side. Yamaha original and Yamaha replacement. 45,000 miles...

antifreeze doesn't go bad in bottle, even if opened. Suggest use distilled water ($1/gal) to dilute or you'll probably get scale forming in cooling system.

I used 5W Honda fork oil and wish I'd used 10W. Stock suspension.

pathfinder ^^^ has good perspective, me thinks. $.02 thought here is ... get on the road early (and start w/ new tires) so that equals 390 miles/day enjoy
