    Maine Chowda Run

Hey Art, Dunno exactly, but between the camping run and the chowda run it must be close to 4K miles. My brand new Stradas are half gone already!

    Maine Chowda Run

Day 2 of the Maine Chowda Run. From Freeport to Bar Harbor. The day started off with breakfast at Mae's Cafe and Bakery. I don't know who found this place but it was spectacular. It was run by a young lady and the name "Mae" is her daughter. Cool. The offerings, including sticky buns that...

    Maine Chowda Run

No, no Alisson's. It happened to come along too soon after the Maine Dinner so it was bypassed. But there is always next year. I hope.

    Maine Chowda Run

Probably about 75% of the riders had the routes in their GPS's so a little seperation did not create problems and we all grouped back together in another mile or so. Also, the ride leader would occasionally pause to make sure we were all still in formation. It really worked out seamless.

    Maine Chowda Run

First things first. A huge Thank You goes out to De Oppresso Libe… (CJ), and Fred W for starting and finishing the organization of this ride. It is perhaps one of the best, and most fun rides I have been on. Why, you ask? Because: 1. The weather was perfect. Temps in the high 60’s and low...

    Maine Chowder / Sightseeing Ride

Hey John, Sorry you can't make it. I was hoping to ride with you again. The good news is the oil spill is not likely to reach the coast of ME so there should still be Chowda for next years run. Gulf shrimp is another concern altogether. Ride Safe, Bob

    Maine Chowder / Sightseeing Ride

The bike has been un-mudded from the Wheaton camping trip, oil changed and repacked for 2-up Chowda. Hope and I will be arriving Kittery early afternoon on Thursday so the shopping queen can get her fix. We'll be staying at the Coachman Inn 1/2 mile up the street from the Trading Post. I have...

wheatonFJR's Inaugural Appalacian FJR Camping Meet

I headed out at 06:00 Sunday, (Yeah, sorry for the noise so early, but at least I didn't blip the throttle.) Rode from 6 to 10PM when I got home. Exactly 900 miles. The new Russell seat is perfect. Completely awesome get together. Roads were excellent. Many thanks to Mr.'s Ed and Fubar for...

Is my bike giving my Cancer?

An ingeneous solution to a non existing problem me thinks.

    Cooling pipe corrosion

Very common problem. If you are taking everything apart anyway the tube can be cleaned (wire brush or glass bead) and then sprayed with a parafin type anti corrosion spray. If you have no plans to take it apart in the near future you can clean inside that area with paint thinner or alchohol or...

    First Gear Mesh 3/4 Jacket

Thanks Duezzer. I think I'll try it.

    First Gear Mesh 3/4 Jacket

I just got a First Gear 3/4 length mesh Jacket that comes with a removable linner. (I'd post a link but it is discontinued and I can't find one.) They claim the linner will keep you dry in the rain. It seems to be made with that in mind as it has gutters sown into the zipper flaps to channel the...

How did you get that side panel to stick to the wall like that?

    Clutch and brake fluids

That was an excellent link. I learned a lot reading it. (And that don't happen often.) Thanks

New owner of 2006 in North Carolina

Congrats on the new bike, but, I really don't see why you are so happy about it. I mean, after all, you're just going to wear this one out too eventually. JK. Enjoy. Do the spiders!

Can't poke fun at Harleys anymore

I think anyone that is not taking care of this problem is making a big mistake. Do something! Solder it, Brodie it, Wire nut the thing together, just do something. Yamaha is light years from doing anything on this issue, (I don't know that for a fact but it is reasonable to assume.) You're...

    Quick glance tire pressure check

Thanks for the post. I think they are pretty neat. Yeah, they could leak, a normal vlave stem can leak, but at least this thing will tell you if it does. I think the value is this. Every time you check your air pressure you loose some air. People that check their tires often find they need to...

    Clutch and brake fluids

I'm not sure I'm buying that theory. The fluid in the lines and calipers just shuttles back and forth. It doesn't really return to the resevoir. I think a flush is way more effective. And for those that want to know how moisture gets into a sealed system..........................that's a good...
