Overheating or not? Coolant temp ind?

I have never changed coolant in my FJR04. Got 33400 mi on it. I have added coolant to it. I probably should change it. I will look at it soon and if it is not pretty green color but looks dirty then I will change it. Haven't had any coolant issues so far. Mick

    Anyone doing Biketoberfest?

I was there Sat and Sunday but my Feej kept stalling out on me. I wasn't real pleased so I left early Sunday. Turns out the sidestand switch was going bad. Sorry I didn't see any fellow FJRriders.

    Tires for 2004 FJR?

I found keeping good air pressure in tires is best for getting the mosst milage out of tires. Somedody mentioned 42-44 psi in rear . Front tire at 42 psi. It's a kinda pain in the *** to check air pressure every week but that is what you have to do to keep the pressure in that range. It really...

    Sidestand Switch Protector

I agree it is a very chicken **** way to address it. The switch is so lame, too. The least bit of grime getting in there will make it get hung up and not complete the circuit. What pisses me off is I cannot get the tiny screws out to open up the switch. Don't have the right tools, the dinky...

    Sidestand Switch Protector

I wonder if it is related to a Code 19 problem? Recently I am experiencing this problem. Bike will cutoff at a stop. Then really have to keep putting side stand up and down until the code goes away. Then engine will fire back up. If you think about it, it is a really bad place for a switch to...

    Removal/inspection of Sidestand Switch

There were some earlier posts about FJR's stalling out when at a stop and someone said if the sidestand switch gets corrosion or moisture it may not function properly and break the ignition circuit, stalling the engine. That is why I want to dissemble the switch to inspect the spring because if...

    Removal/inspection of Sidestand Switch

I want to lknow how involved a job it is to remove and inspect the sidestand switch on a 2004 FJR (non-ABS). I looked at it and see two phillip head screws seem to hold it in place. Problem is it looks like I have to drop the exhaust manifold to get at these screws with a driver. Anyone...

I would have to go with Greb on this. Just isn't any reason to remove fender for tire change. Let us know when you find out why the fender bolts were loose.Mick

Kurykan driver pegs installed on my GenI FJR

I found a shop that would install Kurykan footpegs and adapters on my bike, even though the catalogue had no listing for pegs that would work for an 04 FJR. After removing the stock driver pegs, he had to grind a mm from each side of the adapter to make the fit good. He was able to reinstall the...

    Gen 1 battery removal.

Thanks for the pics for battery change. Plus the last time I installed battery the clip that goes on the body work flipped off somewhere and now I can't screw in the body panel screw. Where can I get another body panel clip? Thanks, Mick

    Average age of FJR owners

I'm 54 yr and will be 55 in 15 Oct. I met another FJR rider a couple months ago when I went riding here in FL and he said he was 68 yr old. I asked if he used the FJR forum website and he said 'no I never figured out how to use a computer'.

More affordable M/C rated oil - May '10

The only problem with that oil is it's not synthetic. I always heard once you start an engine with synth oil it is bad news if you switch to conventional oil. mick

Broad Footpegs for 04 FJR Suggestions?

For followup on this topic, I was not able to find driver footpegs that will fit the FJR. Major disappointment. Ideally I want to get an adapter that will allow the Kuryakun pn4471 footpeg to fit. I may call a machine shop and see how much they will charge to do this. Mick

Broad Footpegs for 04 FJR Suggestions?

I have googles many sites looking for footpegs and incredibly none of the footpeg types will work on an FJR, even if adapters are used. How could this be I'm wondering? So I looked at how the pegs are mounted to the bike and I notice that the frame side cast hinge is angled 20 degrees from the...
