Those are grasshopper guts on the fork lowers, in a week they eat through metal. I used to subscribe to that rag, thought they folded and went away. good cover pic, the FJR is perfect for Texas 10 months out of the year. FZ or Versys for the hot months.

All those sipes are going to flex and move around, I have not ridden a bike with them but several experienced friends don't like the movement back there. I doubt you have a bad tire but maybe chose the wrong one for your style, which sounds close to mine. Switch it and take the loss or wear it...

I have 3 rides worth of grasshopper guts in a nice green protective array on mine, it's chemical warfare when I wash the prehistoric heads and legs out. They sunbathe on the road and wait until you are 3' away to jump up, at 75 mph very painful on the shins if not wearing the full boots.

The aircraft mechanics opinion on hollow bolts: they are meant to stretch during installation, dissipate heat in use and better handle dis-similar metals in use . They should be replaced after a few tire changes and lubed with blue locktite for the lubrication value. I would never use a torque...

As I posted earlier, I'm sure your mileage drop is summer fuel blend, we run several vehicles in north texas and this year it is much lower. It never hurts to do proper maintenance but dont chase 5 mpg when it's not the bike.

Good old D/FW summer fuel formulation. Like clockwork, mine drops every year around the end of May. You will notice less power too.

FJR's just have that vacume static zone that sucks brake and road dust to the rear wheel, I wipe the silver rim strip down after riding leaving all else grungy and it looks good. Black wheels are sinister-sexy and look good on any bike.

Interested. Is the zipper for pants attach a fine lug or more coarse....Dianese had different options. The collar snap looks rusty, surely just the photo but the rust belt takes no prisioners. Sorry to bring up Shirley.
