    Riding affects neck/head movement

Inability to head check might cause the end of my riding days. Prius decided the venerable '05 and I would make a dandy hood ornament a couple of months ago. Among other (thankfully relatively minor - ATGATT) injuries is a pinched nerve at C8 that means I can't be sure if looking over my left...

    FJR Mileage Milestones

Thanks Mr. Ghost - and conga rats on the 600,000+ FJR miles. The insurance guys are still trying to determine fault, although the police report flat-out stated the Prius driver caused the accident with her illegal (attempted) lane change. Wife got rear ended last week and body shop says it's...

    FJR Mileage Milestones

End of the road for my '05 at 144,682 miles. Prius driver didn't want to share lanes. Fortunately, she was only doing about 10 mph and I was only doing about 20 mph, but still got my very first ambulance ride and CT scan as I had what looked like a compound fracture of my right thumb (turned...

    Parting out an '04

James, Do you have the black plastic piece on top of the right fairing that covers the back half of the battery? Part # 58 Panel, Inner 4 5JW-2836N-00-00 Thanks, RsvlFeej

    Regarding Chainsaws

I can fully relate to the original poem, but my Dad's clapped out Homelite went one step further towards being a hexed thing. Pop's decision whether or not to cut wood on any particular day started with him seeing if the saw would fire up. If he couldn't get it going in the first 40-50 pulls...

Are Gen I and II bikes smoother than Gen III

Test rode a 2016. BUZZY sumbitch compared to my '05. Hand-numbing vibes everywhere from 25-40 mph as opposed to the 'normal' buzzy spot around 3800 - 4100 rpm I've always had with the '05 - which you could diminish to nearly unnoticeable with a good TBS (no longer possible on the Gen III, I...

    Gen1 OEM windshield- *SOLD*

No worries. Just hoping to save you frustration and postage. I appreciate the civility of your response; was weighing the odds of being considered helpful vs. taken for a condescending a-hole when I posted.

    Gen1 OEM windshield- *SOLD*

NTXFJR, You are aware that Gen 1 shield won't fit your Gen 3 bike, right?

HELD Summertime Gloves: (Rodney's in particular)

My local BMW shop carries Held and will order what you want. I used to wear the original Held Steves and loved them, but they tended to wear out pretty quickly. Could have sworn I heard somewhere the Steve classics are no longer built to the original specs. Now I use BMW-brand GT-style gloves (I...

    rough idling 2003

Dielectric grease on the connector shown in the linky: https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=22734&st Work the grease into the connector at least 4 or 5 times and run a couple tanks of gas with 2 oz. Seafoam/gallon. One or the other of those fixed similar symptoms on my '05...

    FJR Fees

I have a sale price written by a California dealer on a '15A demo bike with 80 miles on it. Fees look similar to the OP's. I walked away when he backpedaled on the trade-in value of my '05 (that he'd offered me a few months before). Unit price: 12,590 Freight: 794 Handling: 492 Tire fee...

Mileage on the 2015? Any farkles?

Well, I think this is a new one...

Left side bag separated about 5 years ago. I seem to recall using Liquid Nails. The gap on that same bag was ever so slowly increasing about a year ago, then has held at about 1/4" for the last 6 months. Nary a problem with the right side bag.

    The FJR Bird Strike Poll

OWL on a group ride. 'OW' is underlined because as it made its last flight out of the forest, the big, fluffy bastich caught me on the knee, making my hip so sore I limped for 3 days. Uberkul was directly behind and reported he had to drive through quite the cloud o' feathers.

    I Got My Third!

Congrats Mike. I'm hoping my '05 holds together for another couple years before I make the jump to gen3...

I'm moving to California and I need help...(w/parking)

Sportsguy, have you resolved this yet? I'm in Loomis, about 1/2 hour off I5 - as long as you miss rush hours - and almost exactly 12 hours from Redmond. Plenty of room to park a trailer out of sight and I also have dogs, so no issue there...Welcome to use as a rest stop or an overnight stay.

    Recognize your dealer

+1 for Roseville Yamaha. Zac and Co. have done 4 valve adjusts and changed 2 ccts, along with a ton of other work on my '05.

Coming back for the 3rd time.

What pulled you off the VStrom? I haven't even test-ridden one, but that smoking 0-60 time has me intrigued. I was planning to look at that and a few other bikes - including a Gen3 or a low mileage Gen1 - when it comes time to replace my '05. Not ready to pull the trigger yet, but she is...

    Ronnie & Tommie *** debate

sooo, sticking with 4 hotness and totally, batshit crazy - Not to worry, it seems all spouses get there eventually (Sheldon Cooper says Cartesian coordinates are ordered x, then y)

Congrats OM, That's a purty bike. So, am I the only one who immediately thought of before/after diet pics?
